Where the textbook meets real-world experience.
Today, our Year 1 and Year 2 Health Science students completed their first day of clinicals at The Jefferson County Nursing Home. A huge shoutout to the facility for welcoming our students with open arms. Every staff member we encountered was warm, inviting, and eager to share advice and encouragement with our future healthcare professionals.
Students walked in feeling a little nervous, timid, and unsure of what the day would hold. By the time they left, many were already asking to make sure we were coming back on Thursday!
Thank you again to the Jefferson County Nursing Home for providing such an invaluable learning experience for our students today and in the days to come. 🏥❤️💛💙

We were honored to welcome Belinda Lane, Community Outreach Coordinator with MORA, to visit our Health Science students! 💙
Mrs. Lane delivered an impactful and informative session on Organ, Eye, and Tissue Donation, helping our students gain a deeper understanding of how one decision can save and transform countless lives.
Our future healthcare professionals walked away with valuable knowledge about the importance of donation, the process, and the powerful impact it has on individuals, families, and communities.
Thank you, Mrs. Lane, for pouring into our students and inspiring them to think beyond the classroom and into real-world healthcare impact! 👏🏽

Late post Feb 2026: Integumentary System
Our Year 1 students dove into the integumentary system this week! In class, we covered the different types of skin wounds, the layers involved with each injury, and basic first aid skills for each scenario.
Students were assigned a specific wound type, and their classmates had to correctly identify it — as you can see, it got a little messy, but the students had a blast!
Hands-on learning in action!

Late Post November 14, 2025: Communication/Collaboration
Our students are learning that success in healthcare is never a solo effort. To put this to the tests, students worked together in collaborative activity that required communication, critical thinking, and teamwork — all essential skills in the medical field.
In healthcare settings, professionals must rely on one another to provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. Nurses, physicians, technicians, therapists, and countless other specialists work as a team to ensure the best possible outcomes. Through group projects and hands-on learning experiences, our students are building the collaboration skills that mirror real-world healthcare environments.
We are proud to see our future healthcare professionals supporting one another, sharing ideas, and growing stronger together. Teamwork truly makes the difference!

Late Post September 10, 2025:
Our Healthcare and Clinical Services students recently participated in professional mock interviews as part of their career readiness training. Prior to the interviews, students completed several pre-interview components, including researching their prospective employer’s mission and values, completing a job application, creating and printing a professional résumé, and practicing essential soft skills needed for a successful interview.
This hands-on experience provided students with real-world preparation and the opportunity to strengthen their confidence and communication skills. We are proud to share that our students truly excelled during their interviews!
A special thank you to Ms. Johnesha Ellis, RN, for dedicating her time and expertise to conduct the interviews and support our future healthcare professionals.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting Ms. Tiara Rankin, People Choice HR and Compliance Consultant. Both Year 1 and Year 2 students are beginning units focused on Employment Preparation, and Ms. Rankin shared valuable insight on résumés, cover letters, and the interview process. With her extensive expertise in human resources, she provided our students with practical knowledge that will greatly benefit them as future healthcare professionals. We are truly grateful for her time and willingness to invest in their success. ❤️💛💙
