Did you know Home Builders Care helped start the Health, Tech & Trades Career Expo back in 2003? Since then our Foundation has been a key supporter and participant of the annual event. In 2021 we helped bring 3700 area students from nearly 40 schools to the FARGODOME to get hands on experience from 90 exhibitors. Our goal in 2022 is to bring over 4500 students to the expo to give them the opportunity to see careers in the trades industry.

Home Builders Care of F-M Foundation’s leaders and donors believe in the value of homeownership and careers in construction, and supporting people in those dreams.

Over the past 25 years, Home Builders Care has awarded $338,322 in scholarship dollars, supported 322 students through scholarships, and made donations to other local housing-related organizations totaling over $525,000. We also work closely with the area colleges and high schools to promote careers in trades. Funding for this helps us grow student engagement/passion.

Because of COVID-19, our main fundraising event, Framing the Future, was canceled for both 2020 and 2021. We are asking for your help so we can continue to support students who dream of lifelong careers in the building industry.

Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead Remodelers Council members built a handicap-accessible ramp for Fargo resident Barbara Sather.

The project was referred by Freedom Resource Center for Independent Living, Inc. and funded by Home Builders Care of Fargo-Moorhead Foundation.

Kent Sather, Barbara’s husband, says, “First of all, being the recipient of this type of community support is humbling. When we deal with increasing health issues it’s reassuring to know we have the support of people we don’t know to get through and make it easier to do the day-to-day normal things, like getting out of the house!”

We are excited to announce Herdina Construction Trades Camp is back on for 2022! This two week camp is offered with M State for students between the ages of 15-21 looking to get into the construction industry. Students will get hands on experience working with local contractors. This year we will be working with the Red River Valley Fair on some of their summer projects. Dannikka Johnson, a freshman at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Senior High won the “guess how many screws” game at the HBC at the Health, Tech & Trades Career Expo. She was only off by two screws! She won a jobsite radio from Acme Tools. Thank you Acme for the donation! Dannikka said her and her friends had a blast at the expo. Even though it’s a few years away, she’s looking at a career in interior design.
