One of the greats dies...

Actor James Garner, wisecracking star of TV's "Maverick" who went on to a long career on both small and big screen, has died. He was 86. (Photo: AP/Reed Saxon)

[07/06/14]   Transformers Age of Extinction is potentially, potentially. the. worst. story. I've ever watched unfold on screen. A disjointed script interspersed with moments of clarity, where I almost understand what the point of the action is.
The main characters (not including the Autobots) stories were so thin that I didn't care a hell of beans about them. Why were they working together? Why were they fighting? And who were they actually fighting? All of that was unclear.
With nothing to anchor my emotions or thoughts I find myself on Facebook...during the movie. Pathetic.
The actors actually read the script before they signed their contract, right?

[03/24/14]   I really enjoyed watching the 2010 film, The First Grader. It was moving, and beautiful. I knew nothing about Ugandan history, and I really enjoyed that aspect as well.

[02/26/14]   From Week 4 of my Scandinavian film class, studying contemporary filmmaker Lars Von Trier. He is an art film artuer who said, "A film shall be like a stone in your shoe." And even though films like that ever enjoy too much popularity, they are shown around the globe at film festivals and receive prizes and attention from critics.

I'm so happy for my friend Mike who is out there traveling the country making his documentary happen and his dreams a reality. Check this out from Terra Rising Records

Sometimes there are moments when we film that happen, that take on an even bigger importance than the shot itself; like a young man wanting to film his mom, seated across from him, answering questions.

This whole project is not about a message but showing the fluid reality of goals being reached and executed in real time. Music therapy is never about "being good at an instrument," or having any musical ability at all but more about dealing with real world problems, using music as the mechanism for healing solutions. Social interaction, self regulation, walking, talking and even breathing are just a few examples of what music helps treat with the client and the client's family. We are so excited to bring this film to life and appreciate everyone hanging with us for this home stretch in March.

We are almost done and couldn't have made it this far without any of you!
"From the Ground UP" #terratour

[02/21/14]   I learned about Ingmar Bergman in the third week of my Scandinavian Film class. What a legendary filmmaker in the 50s and 60s. And, most importantly, I got a 100 on the third week quiz!

[02/18/14]   Working all day on a script with the amazing director Michael Pollak, makes a person antsy to get on a film set! Getting closer to that goal day by day!

[02/13/14]   Week 2 of my Scandinavian TV and Film class. I just finished my analysis paper of "Ordet", the 1955 masterpiece film by director Carl Th Dreyer.

[02/05/14]   I was pleased to learn that the most popular film genre in the Scandinavian countries are thriller/crime. Great place for distribution of Beyond Repair! (Although I know it will do well around the world!)

[02/04/14]   I've started my 10 week course on Scandinavian Film and Television. I love the auteur work of directors, like Suzanne Bier's In A Better World, where films are based on life, not literature, and where the director has artistic control. They are different than most American films and that makes it an interesting study.
