Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire & Rescue Donates Retired Ambulance to Ukraine

Working with the Chicago-based Ukrainian Medical Association of North America (UMANA) and some related medical relief charities, the Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company (FOVFR) has donated a retired ambulance to be shipped to Ukraine to assist with the relief effort there. Along with some additional supplies, the ambulance will be moved into Ukraine and used wherever the need is greatest; either in the cities or near the battlefront.

Per FOVFR President Jonathan Wood, “The opportunity arose to do something really positive in the world, and the company wholeheartedly supported the effort.” Pictures of the unit after it goes to work in Ukraine will be made available.

Friendly reminder as Halloween and the holiday season approach. Stay safe!

Keep candles at least 1 foot away from anything that can burn. According to the NFPA, More than two of every five (44%) of these fires occurred because the decorations were too close to a heat source, such as a candle or hot equipment.

Stat safe!!!

The Fourth of July would not be the same without those breathtaking fireworks. However, tragedy can strike within seconds when fireworks are not properly and safely used. Thousands of people are injured each year in the United States due to fireworks. Consider the following safety tips when using permissible fireworks: https://ffxfirerescue.wordpress.com/2021/06/30/fireworks-safety-5/

If you would like to dispose of any illegal or unwanted consumer fireworks in your possession without penalty, please contact the County Fire Marshal at 703-246-4849 , TTY 711.
