Operating as usual

[09/19/17]   It is with great sadness that we are officially closing Hand and Physical Therapy Specialists. It has been our pleasure and honor to have worked with so many of you, and for the staff to have provided the best of care. We very much appreciate all of our patients, and the confidence you placed in us throughout the years.

As some of you know, the therapists will be transitioning to various practices. Once that happens, if you are interested in having that information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Otherwise please contact your referring physician and/or your insurance provider to find other therapists in the area.

Again, thank you for being a part of HTS!

While there is no cure, there is help for arthritis. You know where to find it, right?

Did you know May is National Arthritis Awareness Month?

Arthritis impacts more than 50 million Americans, making it the number one cause of disability in the country. That means 1 in every 5 adults, 300,000 children and countless families are affected by arthritis.

Hand Therapy Certification Commission

All three clinicians, Fran, Julie, and Lindsey, at Hand and Physical Therapy Specialists have the gold standard CERTIFICATION as Certified Hand Therapists. Accept no substitutes.

Interesting article explaining the difference between a "certificate" and "certification". The American Society for Quality sums it up nicely in Quality Magazine (November 1, 2016), “it comes down to this: a certificate is a piece of paper; a certification is a process for demonstrating proficiency and comprehension in your given field. In other words, you receive a certificate, you achieve a certification.”

[11/22/16]   Our very own Lindsey Rolinski presented at The 2016 Shoulder and Elbow update conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this past weekend, Nov 18-19, 2016. She was presenting to other PTs, OTs, and CHTs on mobilization techniques and different treatment options for complex elbow problems. The course consisted of lectures from top shoulder and elbow doctors regarding surgery techniques and evidenced based practice standards for rehab for common shoulder and elbow pathologies. Way to go, Lindsey!

CRPS is a condition that can be devastating. PT and OT can help return individuals to comfort and function. Get help now at hapts.net.

“I am 24 and performed gymnastics practically my whole life. I was recently diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a rare neurological disorder. It began after I had suffered trauma to my right foot when a horse stepped on it. A few months later I had surgery on the same foot to correct a bunion. Within a couple of days it felt like someone was holding a lighter to my toes. The skin on my foot became shiny and purplish. My brain was telling my foot that it was in pain 24/7. I couldn’t walk for 5 months and I developed chronic insomnia. After physical therapy I can walk and drive. I still struggle with pain, but it has been almost a year since I’ve taken any opioids. CRPS is a condition that needs to be talked about. I want people to know there is someone in their corner fighting for them.”
