Happy National Watermelon Day🍉
Lots of summer cookouts end with cool, refreshing watermelon. Watermelon is fun for pets; the high-water content hydrates them, and the glucose gives them energy. The folly is that pets often swallow the seeds or eat the rind and both can block the GI tract. To avoid GI blockages, cut the melon from the rind and remove the seeds before sharing this classic summer treat with your pet.

Yum!

Here's to the Dog Days of Summer!

Let's see those photos folks!! Drop in the comments

July is National Pet Hydration Awareness Month. Things are heating up, which means your pets need to be cool! Heatstroke can cause a range of serious symptoms and can be fatal. That’s why ensuring pets are hydrated and protected from the heat is so important.

Adult cats should see their veterinarian at least once yearly, although senior cats and cats with medical conditions may need veterinary care every 3–6 months.
Thorough physical examinations allow early detection of a variety of conditions, especially when combined with appropriate diagnostic testing, and vaccinations aid in the prevention of infectious disease.

Summer is here and it is HOT!
Know the signs of heat stroke and protect your pets!!
Signs of heat stroke include:
Excessive panting
Excessive drooling
Difficulty breathing
Vomiting
Diarrhea, with or without blood
Weakness
Incoordination or stumbling
Sudden collapse
Seizures
This is preventable! Make sure your pet has access to water, shade, and is not overly active on hot days.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS IN HOT VEHICLES!!
Has your cat been itching more often? Atopic dermatitis (atopy) is a common cause of skin problems in cats. When a cat with allergies encounters an environmental protein to which it is allergic, it sets off a reaction leading to skin problems. If you suspect your cat has a new skin problem, call your veterinarian to schedule a visit 🐾

Aging cats are prone to a number of diseases, but the three most common are chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes mellitus and hyperthyroidism.
These conditions can be difficult to distinguish clinically because all three tend to cause weight loss, increased thirst/urination and a generally unkempt appearance. Blood tests and urinalysis are often required to determine the cause of a cat’s illness and formulate an effective treatment plan.
