Summer announcements! ☀️
- Alpha Animal Hospital will be CLOSED on July 4th, resuming normal business hours on Wednesday, July 5th at 9am.
- Refills & medications related to travel/noise anxiety should be requested in advance, as we have a large number of incoming refill requests during this time.
-Dr. Ellison will be joining our team this summer and specializes in feline medicine! Let us know upon scheduling if you'd like to get your kitty friend in to meet our new team member!

Exciting news!!! We are happy to announce that a new veterinarian will be joining the Alpha family... please welcome Dr. Ellison!
Dr. Ellison is a graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. She is from rural Monroe County in southern West Virginia and grew up on a dairy and beef farm. She practiced in a mixed animal practice in Warrenton VA before choosing small animals only, and then finally started her own feline practice in 1991. She and her husband have five cats: Davey, Cat Ballou, Parker, Rae, and Earl Grey. In her extra time she enjoys sewing, college football, and Nationals baseball. Pictured in the photo is Parker who learned to jump on Dr. Ellison’s back for treats as a kitten and still does multiple times a day, often when she is not expecting it. Surprise!

**Alpha Animal Hospital will be CLOSED Monday, July 4th**
1) Be mindful of heat reminders and large crowds- celebrations and loud noises can quickly become stressful and/or dangerous for animals. Always allow free access to water and listen to your pet if they seem stressed or ready to go inside!
2) Keep a well-fitted collar with up-to-date information on your pet in case of emergencies. Keep your pet leashed at all times.
3) Call your veterinarian NOW if you need a refill or think your pet may need anti-anxiety medication to help with the holiday weekend.

Reminder to everyone to keep their animals up to date on the rabies vaccine! Not only is it a legal requirement, but it could be life-saving in a scenario like this. If your pet is injured after contact with a wild animal, please call the hospital to determine the next steps for safety.
https://www.insidenova.com/headlines/coyote-in-lake-accotink-attacks-tests-positive-for-rabies/article_7e45b608-e6c6-11ec-a68d-9739a81d2298.html
Coyote in Lake Accotink attacks tests positive for rabies The Fairfax County Health Department has confirmed rabies in a coyote that bit three parkgoers, two dogs and a police officer this weekend in Springfield.

With temperatures in the high 80s-90s all week, we want to remind owners to be extra careful when enjoying time outside with their pets! ☀️
Beyond car temperatures rising, it is crucial to remember free access to water and walks during cooler periods throughout the day can make all the difference. Please seek medical attention immediately if you have heat-related concerns as they can quickly become life-threatening.
*SCHEDULING UPDATE*
Due to unforseen circumstances, Alpha will be closed for appointments this afternoon and tomorrow, Saturday (5/28). Nurses will be available via phone to take questions and medication refill requests today from 2pm-5pm and Saturday from 9am-12pm.
Thank you for your patience and consideration and we look forward to resuming our normal operations on Tuesday, May 31st.

Please note our clinic closure for Memorial Day! We will reopen for normal hours starting on Tuesday, May 31st.
