Last week, the Panhellenic Exec council attended the Northeast Greek Leadership Association and met with other Greek Leaders. We were honored to represent George Mason's Panhellenic council and our chapters ππ.
Past few weeks, our exec members have been working diligently with IFC exec to plan this sexual wellness week. We hope you will join us for an enjoyable and informational experience. ππ
ππ Today, we are highlighting a special friendship between sisters in different chapters: Mary Allison from @axidgmu and Michelle from @aoiigmuΒ Β ππ
Mary Allison writes:
"In my Junior year of Highschool, I was feeling pretty lost and alone. Luckily, that same year I met my best friend, Michelle, and sheβs been my rock ever since. Weβve been best friends for years, and we managed to stick together from high school to college. When I went Panhellenic, I suggested to Michelle that she join a sorority too. She decided to do COB and clicked with AOII instantly. Sheβs always been my person, and now sheβs my closest friend in the Panhellenic community too. Our experience with Mason Panhel has shown us how strong our friendship and sisterhood truly isβ€οΈ We may be in different chapters, but we are both parts of the Mason Panhellenic community and weβve never been more connected π₯° "

Are you interested in joining our sisterhood this semester? You can join a Panhellenic chapter through a process called Continuous Open Bidding (COB). π€©π€©
Unlike primary recruitment, during COB season, Potential New Members (PNMs) do not need to attend every chapter's events. Each chapter hosts its COB events. As a PNM, you will have the opportunity to get to know the chapter in a relaxed setting, gain insight into the organization's philanthropy, and ask any questions you have about the sisterhood.
If you are interested in going through COB, fill out the interest form in our LinkTree! ππ
βWhen I transferred to Mason three-and-a-half years ago, I didnβt expect to become so invested in the sorority experience. At that point in my life, I wasnβt even sure that I was cut out to be a graphic designer, let alone a sorority woman. When I met the women of Pi Beta Phi, they saw me for me. Their chapter values aligned with my own, and they supported me throughout every aspect of my college experience. They even encouraged me to pursue graphic design again because they knew that I couldnβt imagine myself doing anything else. Weaving my graphic design experience into my sorority involvement was, believe it or not, one of the best things I ever did. It has led me to create some amazing work for my portfolio, gain multiple leadership opportunities as my chapter's Director of PR/Marketing as well as the Vice President of Public Relations for the Mason Panhellenic Council. From this experience, I've even completed three internships within the past year - two of which have been with NPC organizations. I am so grateful for my time in Panhellenic, and I just know that 18-year-old me would be so proud of everything I have achieved and overcome these past four-and-a-half years.β

Happy New Years!! Tag a sister you are excited to spend 2022 with. β¨
βI never thought I would join a sorority, let alone serve on the Panhellenic Executive Council for two years. My involvement in my chapter and Panhellenic has helped shape me into the strong woman that I am today. Through serving as my chapter's New Member Educator and most recently the 2021 Panhellenic President, I have learned the importance of collaboration, how to effectively communicate and how to be flexible. My passion for Greek organizations and general student involvement has led me to want to pursue a Master's degree in Higher Education Student Affairs. I am looking forward to the future and am so thankful that Mason Panhellenic helped get me to where I am today.β

This week marks the 50 year anniversary of Panhellenic being at George Mason University. Chi Omega, the first Panhellenic sorority chartered at George Mason, was founded at this university on Sept. 27th 1970. We are so excited about this milestone and look forward to seeing how this community prospers in the coming years. ππ
Meet Panhellenic President, Sophia Diana.
"Being on Panhellenic Exec has shown me what it means to be a leader. Before being President, I had held positions in my chapter and in different organizations on campus, but I was never the one in charge. It helped me develop the skills necessary to lead the council. One of the hardest parts about my position is knowing that there will be times I mess up and knowing that I wonβt be able to make everyone happy. Those times are hard, but my exec board and advisor have been incredibly supportive and helpful. I could not have managed this position without them. My favorite aspect of being on exec is meeting all of the people in our community and hearing their different ideas and opinions for events.
There are so many things I would want to say to the next council. Communication is so important. Extend grace to the community, exec members, and yourself. Lastly, donβt be afraid to stick up for yourself and your ideas, if you believe in it, go for it."Β Β
