In organic fruits and vegetables, there are higher levels of minerals like iron and zinc. Organic farming also helps to increase soil fertility, allowing natural organisms to develop. Organic farming also helps boost animals and plants natural immune system function.


Were you aware that organic farming practices could help reduce climate change? Converting all of America’s cropland to organic is estimated to have the same carbon-reducing effect as taking 217 million cars off the road.


Did you know that commercially raised livestock, including pigs and chickens, are routinely injected with antibiotics? Many experts believe that too much exposure to antibiotics creates an immunity, meaning the drugs may not work when we need them to.


According to the Department of Agriculture, people can reduce their exposure to pesticide residue found in food by as much as 80 percent by switching from traditional to organic foods.


Why do some people prefer organic food over other food? This is because some people have the belief that synthesizing a food item results in some level of loss of its nutrients and beneficial properties. People that prefer organic want their food to be free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and preservatives.


Thanks to organic farmers, nearly every food category offers an organic alternative. That has even extended into textiles. You can now sleep on sheets and wear clothes made of organic cotton. Thus, organic farming increases consumer choices.


Imagine the insects, birds and other animals that can be affected by pesticides and herbicides on hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland. With organic farming, the different species that could come in contact with the chemicals used in traditional farming are no longer at risk.


There are a number of health benefits associated with consuming organic foods versus traditional foods. For example, according to a study done by the Danish Institute of Agricultural Research, organic milk contains higher amounts of omega-3s, antioxidants, and vitamins than non-organic milk.


Organic food can be grown anywhere. Whether it's coffee from Costa Rica, chocolate from Africa, or tea from India, all of the same organic-certification standards apply. All organic operations receive an inspection at least once a year to confirm their meeting the NOP's standards and regulations.


Can organic foods save the Earth? Studies show farmland that isn’t covered with chemicals to protect against disease and insects and to promote growth is healthier and does not have to be rotated as often as land subject to traditional farming methods.

The Green Revolution began during the 1940s as agriculture was becoming more and more industrialized. This movement toward organic farming has since been regulated by many nations such as Canada, Japan, U.S., and Europe.


Numerous studies indicate that organic foods contain more nutrients than non-organically produced foods. Organic produce, for example, has been found to contain higher amounts of Vitamin C and other trace minerals.


A series of documentaries in the 1970s and 1980s on the inhumane treatment of cattle and other farm animals led to the Organic Foods Production Act, passed in 1990, which requires that meat and poultry are treated humanely and not fed antibiotics or growth hormones.


Organic farmers use environmentally generated plant-killing compounds for w**d control. This means rotating crops, tilling, hand w**ding, or mulching. Conventional farmers use synthetic herbicides to manage w**ds, which can have adverse health effects.


Antioxidants have been proven to lower the risk for some cancers and are believed to be connected with anti-aging properties. One of the main benefits of organic foods – particularly fruits and vegetables – is an increased presence of antioxidants.


According to the National Organic Program, organic farms have increased by more than 6 percent, or 1,109, between 2009 and 2011. The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that organic food sales made up 4.2 percent of all U.S. food sales in 2010.


Do you know how organic famers minimize disease and spur growth in their animals? They give their animals organic feed, and allow them access to the outdoors. They also use preventive measures such as rotational grazing, a balanced diet, and clean housing.

Most of us have an accumulated buildup of pesticides in our bodies due to numerous years of exposure. By eating organic, you can reduce this chemical body burden, boost your immune system, and significantly reduce health risks.


Research shows that the chemical organophosphorous, which is a central ingredient in many pesticides, can potentially be quite dangerous. Studies have found a connection between organophosphorous and developmental issues in young children, such as autism and ADHD.


Did you know that chia seeds can play an important role in the regulation of insulin levels? Chia seeds are able to reduce insulin resistance and decrease abnormally high levels of insulin in the blood to boost health.

If someone in your home is allergic to chemicals, it may be necessary to switch to natural and organic cleaning products. Even the trace amounts left on surfaces after you rinse the cleaner away can be enough to cause a reaction in some people.


It’s important to remember that everything you put on your skin has the potential to work its way into your body. That means that everything from your body lotion to your shampoo could be depositing harmful chemicals into your body.


What is the shelf life of organic and natural foods? Organic foods typically last longer on the shelf than natural foods. Since natural foods are minimally processed, many food items which have a high water content have a subsequently short shelf life.


If you see a USDA label on an organic product at the store and a sticker that says “Organic,” that means the item must be at least 95 percent organic, according to regulations developed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.


Studies have shown that workers who are exposed to pesticides are at a higher risk of getting cancer than those who are not. In fact, a recent study on women with breast cancer found that these women are five to nine times more likely to have pesticide residue in their bloodstream.
