My name is Jaeda Fontaine-Rasaiah and I am the secretary of Langley High School’s Forever Young Club. Our mission as a club is to be able to connect with nursing home residents and make them feel more joy and happiness.
We were hoping that our club could virtually connect with your residents via Zoom before the end of the month. Our members would love to chat with the residents and possibly play a virtual game of bingo!
Please message me back if the nursing home would be interested and we can discuss more details! Also if you have an outreach director, it would be greatly appreciated if we could get their email or phone number so we could get in touch.
Regards,
Jaeda Fontaine-Rasaiah

🚨Department Highlight!!🚨The Activity Department has been working hard to keep our residents entertained & active during these trying months! Whether it be random dance parties, hallway bingo, or crafty corners, they always do their best to keep smiles on the residents faces. Although they enjoy the smiles they receive while implementing those activities, there is nothing they enjoy more than the smiles they get to see every week during those family porch visits! The Activities Department wears many hats, but their favorite hat is the one that brings the joy to our residents & families! 💪🏽

According to Medline Plus, "an ostomy is surgery to create an opening (stoma) from an area inside the body to the outside. It treats certain diseases of the digestive or urinary systems. It can be permanent, when an organ must be removed. It can be temporary, when the organ needs time to heal." Here at Fairfax Rehab and Nursing Center, we have an extensive and experienced wound ostomy care team, including a Wound Care Specialty Physician and Wound Ostomy Care Nurses certified in wound care! Superheroes wear masks!!!! According to the CDC, “COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.” To reduce the spread of COVID-19, CDC recommends that people wear face coverings!!!!!! Any type of face covering is better than no face covering at all.
Fun Fact💡: According to Medicaid.gov, Medicaid currently covers 64.1 million people in the United States!

Our hearts are so full! Sometimes we just need someone to simply be there. Not to fix anything or do anything in particular, but just let us feel we are supported and cared about! An amazing thank you to the Dosky family for motivating and inspiring us! You’ll never know how grateful we truly are!
🚨Department Highlight: The Human Resource (HR) Department!🚨 HR is where it all starts for our employees at Fairfax Rehab and Nursing Center. The department does an excellent job with making sure all of our employees are up to date on CPR and licensures! HR also does a great job at making sure all of our newly hired employees are equipped with all the needs to know about FRNC, that way they feel ready to start their positions. The HR Department at Fairfax Nursing Center wears many hats and contributes to FNC tremendously, making sure our employees are taken care of!!!

Are you looking for a rehab facility for stroke rehabilitation? According to Medicare Plan Finder, The goal of stroke rehabilitation is to recover your body's functions as much as possible and it starts as soon as you are stable. The process includes exercises to improve activities of daily living (ADL's) such as, talking, walking, and using the restroom. Recovery time varies on a case-by-case basis depending on the stroke severity. At Fairfax Rehab and Nursing Center, 21-25 days is the average ADL recovery time for our patients after being admitted!! This is done with the help of our amazing physical, occupational, and speech therapists!!
Medicare covers stroke rehabilitation!! According to Medicare.gov, Medicare has a 100- day rule for skilled nursing coverage that comes with rehabilitation progress. The first 20 days are covered completely, but the remaining days (21-100) require coinsurance of $176 / day.
Fairfax Rehab and Nursing Center is a LVAD certified facility!! According to Mayo Clinic, A ventricular assist device (VAD) – also known as a mechanical circulatory support device- is an implantable mechanical pump that helps pump blood from the lower chambers of your heart (the ventricles) to the rest of your body. When placed in the left ventricle it is called a left ventricular assist device (LVAD).

Viral Test for COVID-19
Covid-19 testing and all the variables in the news today can be confusing. What’s the difference between Viral Test and Antibody Test?
1. Viral Testing helps identify if you are currently and actively infected with the virus. It’s most helpful for our facility, as early identification of the virus allows us to quickly isolate and quarantine positive cases, as well as provide early treatment and secondary preventative options. We rely heavily on biweekly viral testing of all residents and staff!
2. Antibody Testing, still very early in research, identifies if you were infected at some point with the virus. Antibody testing definitely helps identify groups and trends; however, recent research and data is questioning the longevity and life span of Covid-19 antibodies in the body. The study suggests that antibodies disappear after a period of time.
Here at Fairfax Rehab and Nursing Center, we perform COVID-19 Nasopharyngeal Viral Testing. Our trained and experienced staff collect our own specimens biweekly for all of our residents and staff!!

Telehealth is booming! Take advantage of our tele-visits! According to CMS.gov, under the 1135 waiver authority and Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, Medicare can now pay for office, hospital, and other visits furnished via telehealth across the country. Medicare beneficiaries are able to receive a specific set of services through telehealth including evaluation and management visits (common office visits), mental health counseling and preventive health screenings. A new survey from Gallup found the number of patients reporting “virtual” medical visits more than doubled from late March to mid- May. Who’s excited for a visit? Today starts our 1st round of Kiss and Ride family visits. Families are scheduled to drive up and see their loved one during a Kiss and Ride porch visit. Plexiglass shield dividers are strategically placed to promote a continuous barrier of protection. Feel free to get out of your cars, but you must stay on your side of the glass. Absolutely no touching or barrier crossing, please! The stations are bleached and sanitized in between each family and resident. Please be respectful of time. Every resident is scheduled a time slot, so your cooperation is 100% necessary to keeping us on schedule for the next car and family. We can’t wait to see you guys!
Considering Memory Care for a loved one? Here at Fairfax Rehab and Nursing Center, We have two secure Memory Care Units specializing in dementia and behavioral health with personalized care!! These units are over seen by Certified Dementia Practitioners and Geriatric Psychiatry Specialists! Memory Care Units have shown to decrease falls and injuries, as well as emergency room visits and re-hospitalization. According to our last Medicare Quality Survey, 0% of our residents experience one or more falls during their stay and our percentage of short-stay residents who had an outpatient emergency department visit and were re-hospitalized after admission is lower than the state average!

Look what’s coming next week! We are excited to start family drive-by visits next week. You should be getting a call soon, if you haven’t already scheduled your visit!
