A huge thank you to the YMCA and everyone who helped make the event happen. We loved being part of such a fun community event and can’t wait to see many of you in class!
Thanks again for making it such a great time!❤️🐶

How does your dog feel after training? Are they happy? Tired? Bored?
🎥 Loose leash walking isn’t about perfection… it’s about partnership.
When people picture loose leash walking, they often imagine a dog glued to their side, never sniffing or looking away.
But that’s not real life.
A great walk includes:
🐾 A loose leash
🌿 Time to sniff and explore
👀 Checking in with you
❤️ Moving through the world together
Napoleon has been working on these skills in our Dog 1: Teen Spirit class, and these two clips show exactly what we’re aiming for.
The first clip shows Napoleon practicing loose leash walking indoors, where it’s easier to learn new skills.
The second clip shows those skills beginning to transfer to the real world—enjoying a sniffy walk while keeping the leash relaxed.
Training isn’t about eliminating your dog’s natural behaviors. It’s about teaching them how to enjoy those behaviors while staying connected with you.
Great job, Napoleon and family! 👏

A dog can gather more information from one sniff than we get from reading a paragraph. Letting them use that superpower on walks builds confidence, reduces reactivity, and makes the rest of the session go better for everyone.
Sniff on, Jet. 🐕

“My dog is just being stubborn.”
We hear this one all the time—but in most cases, dogs aren’t trying to be difficult or give us a hard time.
If your dog isn’t responding the way you expected, they’re often telling us something:
🐾 They may be confused about what we’re asking.
🐾 The environment may be too distracting.
🐾 The reward may not be valuable enough.
🐾 They may be tired, stressed, or overwhelmed.
Instead of asking, “Why is my dog being stubborn?” try asking, “What is my dog trying to tell me?”
That simple shift in perspective can completely change the way we approach training—and strengthen our relationship with our dogs.
Have you ever caught yourself thinking your dog was being stubborn? We’d love to hear about it in the comments! 💙
