Join us TOMORROW in Perry Square from 6-9pm for our 2nd annual Juneteenth Celebration with FPAC, Glow and Grow Urban Collective, Emmaus Ministries, and Living Black and Green. Enjoy a performance on stage by Jonny Evans and Friends with a free community meal celebrating the Diaspora with delicious foods like Pigeon Peas with rice, sweet plantains, cassava fritters from Dina’s, and sweet potato pie from Café 7-10. We'll be handing out tasting plates so the community can enjoy these traditional flavors with deep roots in agriculture and cuisine. Come taste the rich history and resilience behind these beloved dishes!

This is our second year partnering with these amazing folks to host a celebration of Erie's black food sovereignty movement and black culture on Juneteenth. We'll also have a drum circle, community resource tables, and a meet and greet with the farmers helping to grow food the Pay-What-You-Can Farmers Markets right here in the City of Erie. Thanks to Emmaus Ministries for their support of the community meal!

Jonny Evans and Friends will showcase some of Erie's most talented hip-hop and R&B artists with performances by Łone Šav, Nequia Smith Gamble, Malito Proto, 8TheCity featuring Anthony Rogers and Dwayne Roberts Jr., and Jonny Evans plus some special guests!

Our friends at Cafe 7-10 are also hosting an event on Juneteenth! Be sure to stop by their store at 7 W 10th Street and pick up some special treats for the holiday.

We had another great morning for yoga down at Dobbins Landing with ! 83 participants showed up for the third Sunrise Yoga class of the season and we were treated to a beautiful sunrise and warm breeze. Join us again next week, Wednesday at 6am!

Last night, a fight broke out among a group of teens who were gathered at our Movie Monday event in Perry Square. These actions are in direct conflict with our mission of creating a safe, fun, and welcoming downtown for all.

We offer our sincere apologies to those who attended the movie for both the disruption and the concerns this incident caused.

Violence of any kind will not be tolerated at any of our events, and we will continue to work with the police to proactively prevent situations like this from interrupting our events. Our team will be meeting with the police to revise our safety plan for Movie Mondays tomorrow. We want to thank the on-duty City police officers we hired who were assigned to the event last night for their patience and understanding when dealing with the children. We ended the movie about ten minutes early at the request of the police on site so that they could properly disperse the crowd. The careful response to the situation from the officers on site prevented further escalation, and we thank them for their commitment to keeping our events safe.

We remain committed to hosting safe, quality, family-friendly events. We host over 100 events throughout the year in Perry Square and other public spaces downtown, and the movies represent six of those events per year that have occurred without incident since we brought the series to Perry Square in 2022.

We recognize that this incident prompts several other concerns: What need is being overlooked among the youth of our community that may result in these actions? What are we lacking in Erie in terms of a safe third space for these teens to gather without incident? How can we collaborate with our community partners to meet that need? These are complex issues, but Erie Downtown Partnership is committed to contributing to a solution that works to address these needs and creates a better downtown experience for all. We are committed to making our events safe spaces and ask that everyone do their part to be good neighbors and respect each other at our events.

Thanks to everyone that came out for last night's 4th Annual 14th Fest! We had a great time welcoming the summer with awesome music, food, drinks and activities on 14th Street with our friends at EMTA!

14th Fest is free admission and open to the public from 5 to 10 PM with food trucks, local breweries, children’s activities and live music by The Groove at 5:30PM and Small Town Revolution at 8PM! You'll find us near the corner of 14th and Holland Streets
