Community Blood Bank
The Community Blood Bank of NWPA & WNY connects donors to patients who are in need of life-sustaining blood products in the communities we serve.
The Donation Process:
The donation process takes less than 45 minutes and is a four-step process. You will fill out a short health history form and be asked to read some educational materials about donating blood. A mini-physical - which includes having your blood pressure, pulse, iron, and temperature checked by a staff member - will be the next step. The staff member will also go over the donor

NEXT WEEK: We hope to see you there!

We're asking: WHERE ARE THE O'S?
If you're an O blood donor, your blood is especially vital for our community, with O Negative being the universal type and O Positive being the most common.
However, ALL types are needed - Give blood at the Erie Donor Center and receive a $10 Country Fair Gift Card!

Community Blood Bank to Launch 'Where are the O's' Campaign on June 13th Community Blood Bank Reacts to Out-of-Area Blood Drive: Reaffirms Commitment to Local Hospitals
From June 13th through June 27th the Community Blood Bank is illustrating the importance of O donors by replacing the O’s in our brand with blood drops!
O blood donors are vital to the wellbeing of our community. Those with O Negative blood are vital because their blood is the universal type, usable in emergencies for any patient. O Positive blood is high in demand since it is the most common blood type.

Platelets are tiny blood cell fragments essential for stopping bleeding by forming clots at injury sites.
Platelet donation, or plateletpheresis, is a process where only platelets are collected from a donor, with the remaining blood returned. This type of donation is critical because platelets have a short lifespan and are vital for patients undergoing cancer treatment, transplants, or experiencing trauma. A single platelet donation can significantly help multiple individuals in need of these life-saving cells.
