In November 2023, a boulder memorializing Bob Hetz was placed near the newly named Bob Hetz Memorial Pond (formerly the Gravel Pits Pond). Long time PSA member, Rich Sherwin, did the leg work and planning for this special tribute with help from Marty Grzasko. Funding came from several local organizations: 3-CU Trout Association, S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie, Northwest PA Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Erie Pennsylvania Sport Fishing Association, and Fairview Community Council.

The boulder was originally positioned near the pond but was moved to the location shown in the first picture, near a cyclone fence in the middle of the parking lot with Porta-Johns in the background. Many PA Steelhead Association members felt that this was not a fitting location for an object that is in memory of Bob Hetz.

After several months of planning and communications with various people at the PFBC and with the help of Kurt Hetz, Bob’s son, the boulder was finally relocated to a much nicer and more appropriate position near the pond on Saturday, May 31st.

Bob is looking down on his boulder with a smile now.

**In the second picture, Kurt Hetz, Bob's son, is on the left. Roger Latimer, long-time PSA member and friend of Bob, is on the right.

Sea lamprey control enabled the remarkable recovery of the Great Lakes ecosystem and supported fisheries now valued at $5.1 billion annually. Ongoing sea lamprey control is essential to maintaining this recovery and economy. Nevertheless, many threats face the current sea lamprey control program like climate change, development of pesticide resistance, and the loss of the social license to implement effective control tactics. Opportunities exist, however, to address these threats and position the sea lamprey control program for continued success well into the future.

LOST my Orvis Rod and Center Pin Reel on Monday January 6th.

Hello all. I was fishing at the Rick Road Access area on Elk and left my Orvis rod with a center pin reel on the hood of my car and pulled out of the parking lot.

If found, please call - Ken @ (724) 989-7383. I am lost without my Orvis and center pin. Thanks all.
