April is Autism Acceptance Month, and while autism doesn’t impact our day-to-day life in the way it does for many families, we still show up—because we believe in supporting all kids, and because we love one incredible boy who happens to be on the spectrum.

My nephew is sweet, hilarious, and has a built-in GPS that never fails. He’s taught us to see the world a little differently—and for that, I’m a better person. Im also endlessly thankful that he only ever saw me trying to learn how to best love and support him and never the mistakes I’m sure I made. My much older sister serves on the board of the Autism Society of NWPA, and this will be the second year I donate bounce houses for the walk through my other business, Wilder Party Supplies. We also have a family team walking again this year—so please say hi if you see us there! We can share rain gear!

At That Play Place, we aim to create a welcoming space for every kid to just be little—because childhood should be joyful, inclusive, and full of play. And to all the families out there whose lives have been made a little spicy by this beautiful gift—we see you, we admire you, and we’re cheering you on every step of the way.

Today, I just want to take a moment to appreciate all the incredible women I’ve had the privilege of meeting and knowing through That Play Place. From the moms who pour their hearts into raising their little ones, to the women running businesses, chasing dreams, and changing the world in their own ways—you are all amazing.

I’m especially grateful that my boys get to grow up surrounded by strong, kind, and inspiring women. Thank you for all you do, seen and unseen. The world (and That Play Place) is better because of you!
