The Enosburg Historical Society meets the 4th Monday of every month, from April-October, at 7pm, at the Emergency Services building in Enosburg. The Historical Society has under its jurisdiction:
The Museum & Caboose - Open Saturdays from 10-2, beginning the 1st Saturday in June, through October, or by appointment
Abe's Log Cabin - Open on Tuesday evenings in the summer, during band concerts, from 7-8 pm, or by appointment.

Turner Family Stories: From Enslavement in Virginia to Freedom in Vermont
Jane C. Beck
Turner Family Stories presents two of Daisy's accounts of the life of her father, Alec Turner, by Marek Bennett and Joel Christian Gill, and two stories from Daisy's own life by Francis Bordeleau and Lilllie Harris. The comics are linked together through a story by Grafton native Ezra Veitch, based on a childhood encounter he and a friend had with Daisy one afternoon. Center for Cartoon Studies graduate Robyn Smith drew the volume's cover. The book also features a Foreword by Gretchen Gerzina, Introduction by Julian Chambliss and a Preface by Jane Beck. -- Amazon

Thank you Linda Radtke for the wonderful program last night! Linda’s program was an educational, insightful and heartfelt tribute to the suffragists from the mid-1800’s to the 1920’s. Thanks to their unflagging dedication and unending hard work, women have enjoyed the right to vote for 100 years now. I left the program feeling a deep appreciation for these women, and am incredibly thankful for equal voting rights. Get out and vote this coming November! It is a hard-fought right that should be exercised at every opportunity!

Members of Franklin and Grand Isle County Historical Societies are cordially invited to meet on Saturday, October 1st in Sheldon. This is the first opportunity Sheldon has had to host our annual get-together! It's an important gathering: a wonderful opportunity to share ideas, information, and insights; but especially is this a chance to renew acquaintances in an atmosphere of shared interests.
The meeting will convene at 9AM Saturday, October 1 at the Sheldon Interfaith Foodshelf (beside the Methodist Church) on Church Street, Sheldon Creek. Participants will have a chance to highlight events and activities in their respective society. Our keynote presentation by Harold Smith and Fern Mercure investigates the meteoric rise and dramatic collapse of Sheldon's fashionable mineral spring resorts.
We'll enjoy brunch at the foodshelf before adjourning a few dozen yards down Church Street to the Sheldon Historical Society's new home and museum, where we can continue to explore ideas and share resources.

The fire tower at Allis State Park. This park was established in 1928, the second state park in Vermont. (Mount Philo was the first VT State Park.) It was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps beginning in 1932.
This is one of only a handful of fire towers in the state, and an easily accessible one, as there is a road leading right to the tower.

The Floating Bridge in Brookfield, VT
Text: Since 1820, eight versions of the Floating Bridge have spanned Sunset Lake, each serving as a unique gateway to Brookfield Village. Previous versions of the bridge were constructed with a variety of materials, including massive timbers, 50-gallon barrels, and Styrofoam. The eighth version opened in 2015 and was intended to reflect the overall design and aesthetics of the previous crossings, but is constructed with a state of the art flotation system to allow for easier maintenance and segmental replacement. Brookfield’s is the only floating bridge in Vermont, and remains an important community landmark and gathering place for the town.
