Very pleased with my first experience entering quilted and knit items in the Prince William County Fair. Was great fun volunteering and meeting other needlecrafters in this area.

It's been a difficult and frustrating 5 months trying to get my longarm restored and properly working after the move. From channel lock problems, damaged motor mounts and interface connections, the recuperation has been tedious.
BUT... (said holding my breath), I think we have turned the corner!
Last night after a very emotional and stressful week with the motors and motor mounts, I was able to successfully complete a full size quilt for a client.
Thanks to my friends who listened to my frustrations and whining and supported me throughout this trial. You are the BEST!
Looking forward to August and the remainder of 2023...

What better thing to do when there's a heat advisory than stay in A/C and finish a UFO! I "found" this kit when I moved and completed it today to send with our mission team to Mexico in October.

Modern client quilt just off the longarm. Selecting a pattern was a challenge with the different geometric designs but pleased with the outcome of Ginger Snap by Patricia Ritter.

First UFO finished! Found this when I moved and it may have been pieced 10 years ago. It is going with a mission team from my church to Mexico in the Fall. So glad to have my longarm working again.

It only took 4 months but Gabby has her groove back! First off in our new location is this beautiful baby quilt. Someone will be very fortunate to receive this gift.

These quilts have been created by a friend of mine. She is now sharing her talents and offering some for sale. Please visit and like her page and pass along the information to anyone who may be looking for a beautiful quilt. Thanks!

My project this week: restoring an original cabinet for a 301. Includes the cradle and stool. I will be listing it for sale if anyone is interested before it is posted. Pickup only!
Now aren't you glad you took that Attachments Class?

I am "SEW" happy to report that we have both recovered enough that I am able to accept quilts and machines on a limited basis. Please call or email me for approximate turn around times to see if they meet your schedule.
Thank you for your prayers, cards, emails, and patience as we navigated this difficult time. We so appreciate each and every one of you!
A stark wakeup on how long its been since I've been able to sew or quilt (other than the dust)...the clock in the studio is still on standard time! How long ago did we "Spring Forward"?
Happy Spring, Everyone!

I am sorry to share that due to family health issues, I will not be able to accept any new orders for quilting or machine servicing thru April, 2019. If you need a referral for another longarmer, please let me know. Thank you for your caring and support as we navigate and define our "new normal". I hope to see all your wonderful creations once the weather is warmer!

This certainly describes my studio!
Art work created by THERESA HALL.

To all our precious family and friends, we wish each of you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas. Frank and Donna
Quilting Clients Please Note: All orders for quilting needed for Christmas must be booked by November 16. Orders received after that date may not be finished in time. Thank you!

Let the fun begin! The start of the first annual Featherweight Friends of South Central PA Quilting Retreat at Blue Lake Retreat House.

Happy Birthday Singer Featherweight! She turns 85 years young on Wednesday. The first allocations were October 3, 1933.

For all my cherished quilting friends (this was a gift from a dear friend):

2018-411: Someone just received a very special wedding gift!

2018-415: Isn't this just the sweetest crib quilt? The Simply Squares was quilted with a Daisy Delight pattern. This quilt will be part of the many items offered for sale by the Masonic Village Piece Makers Quilt Club of Elizabethtown, PA. during the annual Autumn Day celebration on Saturday, September 22. Proceeds from the sale of their quilts and other items are used by the club to support charities both on and off the Masonic Village campus. If you're in the area, I hope you'll stop by their area inside Brossman Ballroom to see and purchase some of their amazing work.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the Singer Featherweight Spa Day on 9/29. We appreciate everyone who expressed an interest and hope to have you join us for the next one.
Just wanted to pass along a warning for those of you who prefer using 108" wide backings. Despite the quality of the fabric, these backings tend to shrink A LOT. If you plan to prewash your fabric, I recommend purchasing at least 10% additional than the stated requirement. I am currently working with a client to determine how to piece a backing to fit that actually shrunk from 108" to 97". If you do not prewash, you will get more of an antique look on the backing.
Another great sew day with Featherweight Friends. Just amazing how spending time with such wonderful friends helps to inspire me to get those sewing projects completed. Thanks to everyone who came today!!
Thank you to my FFSCPA friends who attended the sew day yesterday. Just being together inspires me to work on my UFOs! And despite being tired when I got home, I actually finished sewing together the center of the top I was working on there. Now I wish I had the fabric you suggested to complete the borders.
Hope to see more of you on Saturday, August 11.
Facebook keeps reminding me that I need to update my status and today is that day!
I have been on a quilting and machine servicing marathon this past month! I've been committed to reducing my client backlog so that I can dedicate some free time to my own quilts. Yes - it finally hit me that I don't have anything to enter in our local fair which is only 1 month away! In addition, I promised some quilts for the charity auction that need to be finished.
This has been dubbed "2018 - The Year of Completed UFOs" so I hope to be posting pictures in a new album of my finished projects. I'm really excited to have this time to sew.
Looking forward to seeing all your Summer and Christmas projects as well!

A sampling of some of the amazing quilts my clients entrust to me to quilt for them.

I've determined the maximum width for my longarm! Each row takes 20 minutes to complete. This will be an all day project and it's the second California King I've been asked to quilt in the last week. I think a baby quilt will be next!!!

What have you been doing to stay cool these past few days? I actually got 2 client quilts completed and delivered (one was a california king size - BIG). Sometimes it nice to need to stay inside!

Looking for odorless kerosene to clean those vintage sewing machine gears? Here is what we purchased at Lowes (it was stocked in the paint department). I understand that some of you have been told they don't carry "odorless kerosene" when you ask for it. Perhaps it's a problem with the name / labeling.

Twice this week we've had clients contact us with a similar problem: they are sewing on a project (and have been for awhile) when suddenly the tension seems to go out of whack and they are getting bird's nest on the bottom of the fabric.
In both cases, the problem was caused by a dull, damaged needle. By simply changing the needle, the stitches were perfect again.
How often do you change your needle? Starting each project with a new needle prevents problems and frustrations as well as a trip to check if your machine needs servicing.
