On time payments are super important for your credit scores, by all means avoid an account reaching 29 days with out payment (30 day late payments get reported) & will hurt your scores significantly. - 2. Keep those balances low & understand your cycle or statement dates. Successful planning can ensure you always keep your utilization rate low or close to 0 for maximum credit increase. - 3. Keep those accounts opened even after you pay them off. Use them occasionally and keep tabs on those Expiration dates to avoid inactive closures. Credit age is what gets you to that 800 club, you will need a good history of positive payments that shows responsible usage. - 4. Goes hand in hand with #3, the more new accounts you open the “younger / more inexperienced” your credit age becomes as the average length of time an account has been opened will be impacted by this new account when it reports. - 5. Review your credit reports for errors and outdated info.
