I love these dahlias.
I only grew a select few for CSA members this year and wasn't sure I'd grow them again next year. Dividing tubers and storing them over winter is kind of a big task. I think these are worth it, though!

I'm planning to triple the amount for next year🤞

Day 1 of lifting up W**d barrier, testing the water lines and planting 150 snap dragons. These can withstand the cooler temperatures (I believe it's supposed to be 32° out there at night this week).

One row done✔️

Next up: 200 lisianthus. First, there will be an entire day of bed prep. Pulling weeds, prepping the soil, checking water lines. Then another day of planting.

I've only almost stepped on 1 snake so far. I'm waiting for one to slither out of a hole every time I go plant 😬

🏆Anyone love pulling weeds? In the wind? With no restroom around? This is your moment to shine🏆

🫢 Yes, it is WAY past time for me to post the Summer CSAs. Summer CSAs are 5 weeks, $150. Field to vase ($30 per bouquet). They have 12-15 stems per bouquet. Yes, these would typically be about $45-$55 bouquets, but as CSA members, you're "buying in" prior to knowing the season. As such, we like to reward your enthusiasm with full bouquets 💐

After all the flooding and hail last year, I was fairly hesitant to get back out there (I had to replant 7 times and am traumatized). However, I have over 100 snap dragons, lisianthus, eucalyptus, statice, etc ready to get put in the ground. So it's time to pull on my big girl farmher overalls and get back out there.

I am only doing a Parker pickup this summer on Fridays 3-8PM. Summer CSAs start at the end of July/beginning of August- weather depending as usual 😄

I am limiting this CSA to 10 members. I am hoping to also have bouquet bars set up once I have flowers, so if you don't get a CSA, you'll still have opportunity to get your hands on some bundles (just not at the discounted CSA pricing).

Thank you for supporting our flower farm and for helping us spread joy!

It's a busy time of year at our house. HS graduation coming up, Prom, kids activities, two more weeks of grad school, full-time work, picking a college for my kiddo, trying to get a high tunnel put up at the farm... and when I see these daffodils, I get instantly calm. They are so cheerful and remind me how much God loves us to create such beauty in this world.

Things I never thought I'd be doing:
-making Kombucha on a Friday night
-saying "save the tea bags for your worm farm"🐛
..but here we are🤷‍♀️ with the weather so gloomy and cold and a herniated disc in my back-There's not much else I can do.

I never liked Kombucha because it tasted like apple cider vinegar. Then I got my hands on my mom's homemade kombucha recipe, and now I make sure we always have some. The hardest part is listening to your husband gagging and commenting about the scoby😄

The flavors we've made so far:
Palisades Peach
Mixed Berry
Clementine
Pear
Blueberry/Pear
Kiwi Strawberry
My fav is the peach. I think a watermelon-mint sounds good in the summer.

Do you like Kombucha?

It's seed starting time! First up-Lisianthus.
These are known as being a "fussy" flower to grow because they take 5-6 months. If I can get them to grow for me, I think the wait is worth it. These are gorgeous and have a long vase life of 10-14 days!
Materials:
Lisianthus Seeds
Soil Blocker
Plastic trays
Vermiculite
Soil (I use our homemade recipe)
Heat mat with temp regulator
🤞
