Blessed to keep creating art in my life.

This painting was commissioned by .v.realtor for an auction fundraiser event, and I’m thankful for his continued support of my art and the Elgin Latino community!

I don’t think I’ve ever painted a Jesus/religious piece until now, and from the feedback I got, it seems I might be creating more of these here and there in the future.

I love that .en.los.huesitos and I were both commissioned for this, and I love seeing our pieces side by side. It almost feels like they’re part of the same series or collection.

I felt like the right time to share this painting.

We need more love and peace in our world now more than ever.

It has been a huge honor to be part of the Erasing Borders / Borrando Fronteras exhibit. It always brings warmth to my heart to be able to represent and uplift our culture in any way possible. We are going through tough times, but we will prevail 🇲🇽❤️🔥.

This exhibition will always hold a special place in my heart, as it marks a historic milestone commemorating our Hispanic/Latino presence in the present day, as well as honoring the early Latino pioneers in Elgin.

There is so much history in this small town of Elgin, and I’m proud to be part of it.

I had the beautiful opportunity to be part of this Collaboration Mural led by .eli.art . Here is my portion of the mural along with our half section of the mural together. My favorite part of this mural was having some of my favorite people and the East Dundee community add to my mural by filling in the train and the doggy Backpack with their original artworks/designs.

One of the things I love about creating is telling stories and sometimes having them unfold in front of our eyes. My part of this collaborative project continues/adds to the story started on Kate’s portion of the mural.

“Ni De Aquí, Ni De Allá”

As music continues to carry our stories through lives, cultures, and generations, we consume it and translate it in our own unique ways. It reminds us to never forget the beautiful memories of our past, our ancestors, our roots.

We hold on to these memories and celebrate them as much as we can, until it’s our turn to become a memory for the next generations. We look back and forward as we live “neither from here nor from there.”

Living in the present, we move forward, planting seeds to grow a future where we can continue telling the stories of our roots. Dreaming of the future. Dreaming in the present. Dreaming of how it would be if they were still here with us.

A kid wrote three simple words during our community mural paint day:
“I Was Here.”

It hit me, because honestly, I couldn’t relate more.

Each year I’m blessed with the opportunity to create, but I never take that for granted. Time isn’t promised. I’ve lived through moments that could’ve ended it all, moments that could’ve stolen this path from me.

Yet here I am. Still painting. Still growing. Still leaving a mark.

No matter where life takes me, my art will speak for me. It will be the evidence, the creative footprint I leave behind; reminding the world:
I was here.

I’ve lost “friendships”, “supporters”, “real people.”
But I’ve gained even more love from those I never expected.
And maybe that’s how it goes. keep your circle small, but strong.

To those who still show up for me, who share love, give support, push me to grow, and never left my side…

You’re the reason I’ve made it this far.

So, just like that kid who wrote “I Was Here…
I was. I am. And I will continue to be.
Through my voice, my story, and every brushstroke I leave behind.
