SHOCK CINEMA #66 is now available and has been shipped to all subscribers. The new issue includes in-depth interviews with Sarah Douglas (Superman & Superman II, Conan the Destroyer, The People That Time Forgot, The Return of Swamp Thing), Robert Picardo (The Howling, Star Trek: Voyager, Innerspace, Legend, China Beach, Gremlins 2: The New Batch), Lawrence Pressman (The Man in the Glass Booth, The Hellstrom Chronicle, Shaft, 9 to 5, Doogie Howser M.D.), and director-writer-actor Larry Bishop (Mad Dog Time, Hell Ride, The Savage Seven, Wild in the Streets, Kill Bill: Vol. 2).
We received the first FedEx Freight shipment of SHOCK CINEMA #66 earlier this week, and all of our US subscriptions were mailed on Friday and Saturday! (International orders will go out on Monday.) Since the US Post Office is closed on Tuesday for Veteran’s Day, most subscription copies probably won’t arrive until Wednesday or later... #66 should begin popping up in bookstores in two or three weeks, but you can also order your copy now at: www.shockcinemamagazine.com... I'll be updating the SC website with more detailed info about the new issue in a few days.
Quick Update: Shock Cinema #66. The new issue of Shock Cinema is currently at the printer, and we hope to approve the matchprint later this week. If you don’t already have a subscription, you can pre-order your copy of #66 at: www.shockcinemamagazine.com.

We just received out first freight shipment of SHOCK CINEMA #65. The new issue looks great, and we’ll begin mailing out subscription copies and pre-orders on Wednesday! Once we’re done labeling, stuffing, stamping, and hauling issues to the post office, I’ll post an update with more info.
Our national distributors will be getting their copies in another one or two weeks, so #65 should be turning up in bookstores soon...
Update: SHOCK CINEMA #65. The new issue is currently at the printer. We expect to receive a matchprint on Dec 17, and if everything looks good, it’ll go on press. I'll post another update once we have a more concrete idea of when we should begin mailing out subscription copies... If you aren't already a subscriber, you can now pre-order your copy of #65 at: www.shockcinemamagazine.com.
Shock Cinema Magazine Update: If you read my Facebook post from back in June, you can probably guess that the last several months haven’t been particularly relaxing for me... My first eye surgery went amazingly well. Unfortunately, the second was more problematic, needing additional laser work. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I’ve had eye problems for most of my life, and while the cataract surgery was essentially successful, it didn’t resolve all of my issues. It definitely improved my eyesight in a lot of ways (e.g., I’d been having troubles reading subtitles, so now Anna & I can finally catch up on our backlog of foreign films), but it has also taken a lot longer to get comfortable sitting at my computer for hours at a time, writing and doing detailed layout work.
In a nutshell, I’ve been hard at work on Shock Cinema #65 for the last couple months, finally pulling together the new issue and hopefully getting back on a regular schedule with the magazine. Thank you to all of our friends and subscribers for their patience and support while I’ve dealt with my medical nonsense, and I’ll keep everyone updated on the new issue’s progress once it’s closer to actually going to press.
Important announcement concerning the next SHOCK CINEMA:
Unfortunately, due to an unexpected medical situation, the next issue of SHOCK CINEMA is temporarily on hold. For the last several months, I’ve had increased problems with my eyesight, which has made working at a computer for 8 to 12 hours per day incredibly difficult. After recent appointments with a couple different eye doctors, I’ve learned that I will be needing cataract surgery in both eyes. This isn’t a huge surprise, since I’ve been wearing corrective lens since I was six years old and have also had a history of serious eye infections beginning in my early-20s, with doctors warning me that my bouts of iritis could cause longterm damage.
Still, the idea of this upcoming surgery is absolutely freaking me out and I’m depressed as hell, but there aren’t any other options since these problems will only increase the longer I wait. Anna and I are currently scheduling the surgeries (they do one eye at a time, two weeks apart), as well as the numerous required post-surgery doctors’ visits -- which will take us throughout June. So work on #65 has essentially come to a standstill for now, as I prepare for the procedures, then recuperate. I’ll get back to the next SHOCK CINEMA as soon as possible. In the meantime, any customer orders for the current or back issues will be processed as usual. Thanks for your patience and wish me luck.
