Our Visual Arts & Education Chair, Miranda Cortes, illustrated a coloring page highlighting Black American hero and inventor Garrett A. Morgan.

Swahili for creativity.❤️‍🔥🖤💚Through Kuumba, these talented local artists used their God given gifts to fuel our mission, revealing what becomes possible when creativity is guided by Nia (purpose) producing healing through intersectionality and tangible change in our community.

Through visual art, we reclaim space and imagination.
Through educators, we turn creativity into knowledge and access.
Through culinary arts, we honor culture, and the radical act of feeding our community well.

When nurtured, creativity becomes a tool for problem solving, healing, and collective growth.

This is Kuumba in action.
This is the vision in action.

Today begins Kwanzaa. Day One: Umoja (Unity).

Umoja is the first principle of the Nguzo Saba, calling for unity within family, community, and collective responsibility.

It is not symbolic it is practiced.

On 11/22, we embodied Umoja through intergenerational gathering, culturally inspired arts, and shared resources turning values into action and community into infrastructure.
