Now that winter is over, you are likely to see more roadwork on your daily routes. Here are some tips to prepare for those big orange signs to keep both you and the construction workers safe this Spring.
🚧 Expect the Unexpected - Lanes may change, speed limits may be reduced, construction workers may be walking in front of or behind vehicles.
🚧 Slow Down, be alert & pay attention to signs & flaggers - In a construction zone, a flagger has the same authority as a regulatory sign, so you can be cited for disobeying his or her directions.
🚧 Be Patient - Noone likes pesky potholes or uneven roads, be thankful for construction workers who work hard to fix our roads to ensure we have a smooth & safe ride.
Spring showers bring summer flowers! but did you know that wet pavement contributes to so many traffic crashes each year? Here are some tips below to follow when you are caught in the rain.
🌧️ Slow down & leave room during wet driving conditions. Avoid hard braking or sharp turning
🌧️ Anticipate problems in the first few minutes after it starts raining or in a heavy downpour
🌧️ The first 10 minutes after the rain begins are the most dangerous. The rain mixes with oil from motor vehicles and oil from new asphalt.
🌧️ In severe rain a school bus driver should reduce his or her speed by half. Because of its weight a school bus will seldom hydroplane. One reason it will hydroplane is if it is going too fast.
