Connecting with Threads
Contact information, map and directions, contact form, opening hours, services, ratings, photos, videos and announcements from Connecting with Threads, Nonprofit Organization, Durham, NC.
Connecting with Threads is a diverse group of people who provide education about sewing and quilting in order to nurture our broader community by giving them quilts, bags, and other handmade products.
I have found youth sewing classes to run about $25+ an hour. This is unaffordable for so many families. I am proud to be a part of this group that volunteers to provide these lessons - including supplies - at no cost to families.
By partnering with community organizations, we can also provide equipment and materials at no cost -- while teaching youth valuable skills - not only sewing skills but life skills such as perseverance, patience, and positivity.

We had a great time at Book Harvest yesterday making quilt squares to match a book! We worked with nine students who are a part of a book Harvest book club to help them make squares for a special quilt that reminds us of Charlotte's Web!
The book and the quilt will be given to children who are experiencing hospice care in the Durham area. We are so excited about our latest project!

We are so proud to have been a part of National Library Week with the Durham Public Library's Southwest branch. Together, children and adults made quilt blocks to represent their own stories - resulting in a quilted wallhanging that tells many stories. The room was full of creative energy & inspired people and this was the result!
