🧡 Vida Maya began with a simple dream between a mother and her son.

When I became a mom, I realized how deeply I wanted my son to feel proud of where we come from; to know the strength, beauty, and resilience of our Guatemalan roots.

Vida Maya was born from that desire to raise a bicultural child with connection to his heritage, and to build a bridge between our family and the Indigenous communities from my homeland.

Every piece you see in our shop supports Indigenous Maya families and helps preserve the art of backstrap weaving. Every item is a piece of home, a piece of history, and a piece of our story.

To every mama out there raising bicultural kids, I see you. I’d love to know, what part of your culture are you most proud to share with?

💔 Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the devastating flooding in Kerr County and across the Hill Country.

We are safe at home, about 90 miles from Kerrville, and thankfully have not been affected. Rain is still in the forecast and we are hoping our creeks and streams can handle it.

Our son is back from summer camp and it feels bittersweet. We are so grateful to hug him again, and at the same time, our hearts ache for the parents who were not as fortunate.

We are keeping the affected families and the brave first responders in our thoughts and prayers.
