America needs a "Time Out" to think about the choices it made and figure out how to get back on track.

Senator Jon Ossoff delivered a scathing critique of political corruption in the U.S., stating plainly, “America had the most corrupt political system in the Western world” even before #DonaldTrump emerged. Ossoff acknowledged that Trump tapped into real frustration with a system “running on corporate money, secret money, billionaire money, both sides.” He pointed directly to Citizens United as “the worst court decision in modern American history,” unleashing a flood of dark money into politics. The consequences, Ossoff said, are brutal: members of Congress are either “begging for money from lobbyists” or bracing for “millions and millions of dollars of attack ads” from super PACs over a single vote. “This is why nothing works for ordinary people,” he argued, dismissing culture war scapegoats in favor of the core issue: representatives “don’t represent the people. They represent the donors.”⁠ ⁠ Ossoff’s remarks zeroed in on the direct human cost of this corruption. He linked it to the defunding of nursing homes “to cut taxes for the rich,” the sky-high price of prescriptions, denied insurance claims, housing displacement, and even the cost of an ambulance during a family emergency. He painted a picture of a government unresponsive to its people, managed instead by corporate landlords and hedge funds.
