Pelvic health rehabilitation starts with the right tools. STIM and EMG units help clinicians strengthen weak pelvic floor muscles and restore neuromuscular control for improved patient outcomes. These systems also provide valuable insights into muscle-group relationships, helping to support treatment for a wide range of pelvic health conditions.

Empower your patients to retrain, regain control, and build confidence with advanced biofeedback technology designed for pelvic floor rehab. Explore these trusted clinical tools:

As clinicians, we know the stereotype well. Pelvic health is often seen only in the context of women's health and pregnancy. But anatomy doesn't lie; everyone has a pelvic floor.

For Pelvic Health Month, we’re turning the spotlight toward an underserved patient population: men. Male pelvic floor dysfunction is common yet often misdiagnosed or overlooked. From chronic pelvic pain syndrome, erectile dysfunction, to urinary urgency, these patients often suffer in silence.

We’ve put together a quick, evidence-based guide on assessing and improving men’s pelvic health. Unlock the guide here: https://brnw.ch/21x3eOl

As we recognize Men's Health Month, it's important to talk about an often-overlooked topic: men’s pelvic health.

While often thought of as a women’s health specialty, pelvic floor dysfunction affects men, too. Upwards of 16% of men in the US experience this, many suffering in silence because of stigma or lack of screening.

Pelvic floor issues are often associated with bowel and bladder dysfunction, sexual health challenges, and disrupted abdominal pressure.

The Solution:
Pelvic floor physical therapy is the evidence-based, first-line defense. Let's normalize screening male patients for pelvic health conditions. Awareness, prevention and early intervention can dramatically improve clinical outcomes while helping men live longer and healthier lives.

The cast comes off, and patients often think they’ve crossed the finish line. But as clinicians, we know the truth: the real work is just beginning.

It’s incredibly common for patients to underestimate the importance of hand therapy post-immobilization. We play a vital role in educating them that regaining a full range of motion, grip strength, and function requires a dedicated rehabilitation plan.

Here is a quick refresher on three foundational exercises to incorporate into their Home Exercise Program (HEP) to rebuild hand and wrist strength:

Forearm Flexor Stretch: Stand or sit tall with the arm extended straight out. Using the opposite hand, gently pull the fingers down and back toward the body (elbow crease facing up). Hold for 10 seconds, then return to the starting position.

Putty Flexion Squeeze: Place a ball of therapy putty in an open, supinated palm. Actively dig the fingers into the putty, squeezing through to the palm to form a fully clenched fist. Release, reshape the putty, and repeat 10 times before switching hands.

Wrist Supination/Pronation: Seated with the forearm fully supported on a table, slowly alternate turning the palm face up (supination) and face down (pronation) while keeping the elbow stationary. Hold each end-range position for 5 seconds.

Equipping your clinic and your patients with reliable tools is key to ensuring consistent progress. Here are some staple resources for these exercises:

That post-cast stiffness and swelling is a challenge every rehab professional knows well.

While physical and occupational therapists provide the clinical expertise and hands-on care to help post-fracture patients regain movement, lasting recovery depends on consistency outside the clinic too. A strong Home Exercise Program (HEP) helps patients continue building mobility, strength, and confidence between visits.

Help your patients keep up the momentum outside the clinic! Share these at-home exercise programs with them to ensure they regain their strength and mobility safely and effectively: https://brnw.ch/21x34dR

Performance Health and Rolyan are proud to support a recent hand surgery mission trip with Surgicorps International to Zambia through a donation of Rolyan splinting supplies, including Rolyan TailorSplint and Ezeform thermoplastic sheets, and Rolyan loop.

“Thanks again so much for the supplies. I truly don’t know what we would do without them! We made 81 splints for the kids and were able to teach three Zambian physiotherapists how to make splints.” – Kim Rosinski, OT

A special thank you to Occupational Therapists Kim Rosinski and Cathie Dorr for generously donating your time, skills, and expertise to make a meaningful impact.

We’re honored to support clinicians and organizations working to improve lives and expand access to hand therapy care around the world.
