Will's Shop 'n Save Historical Page

We've spent a lot of time reading through the many well wishes and reminiscing about the heartfelt interactions we had with so many of you as you came to the store to wish us well in our retirement. We were, quite honestly, moved beyond words. Thank you all so much for the love!

We couldn't resist posting to our page, one last time, on this Memorial Day weekend as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. They are truly not forgotten.

Mom and Aunt Lizzie surprised us with a visit! Missing Dad - he would have been so proud to be there to witness our last day of business, just like he was there for our first.

Many thanks to our friends Steve and Julie who came for a visit and brought a very special box of craft supplies for a papa to do with our grandchildren!So much fun!

This guy! We were very happy to have Lance stop in on our last day!

Dave Ronco was our very first customer at the Will's grand opening 11 years ago. Today he was our very last customer before we locked the doors. He received extra special service as Will was his cashier (well, for most of the transaction 😉😂) and Jeremy and Jason, the Edwards Brothers, helped with bagging his groceries.

Things you do the last day you own a grocery store: a taste test to compare Armour and Libby's Vienna sausage. This was a delicacy when they were in college. 😉

Thank you to the wonderful folks of Df Kiwanis who appeared at Will's this morning to honor us with this Distinguished Service Award. It has been our honor and pleasure. Thank you for singing and for the many words of kindness, too.

Just because Jane brought this up...here's another memory from the past 11 years. We always enjoyed being a part of the Maine Maple Weekend breakfast. This particular year, as we were doing the usual tasks, we were also asked to wear these costumes. We do like to laugh! 😂

Please note the earlier closing time of 4 PM on Saturday, May 21st. The system changeover procedures will begin that evening, making the early closure necessary. We're sorry for any inconvenience and hope the advance notice is helpful!

A memory for World Baking Day 2022. That time I baked Cam the Raspberry Charlotte he requested. It was a labor of love and I'm really glad I took this pic of his reaction. 😉

We're continuing to reminisce. We always enjoyed supporting the Foxcroft Academy athletes with their hot dog fundraisers. The athletes always showed up proudly wearing their sports apparel and were eager to do their part in these community events. In addition, the community members who came out to enjoy lunch, make a donation, and chat with friends and neighbors, helped raise money AND support these young adults. Thank you all for the memories!

Ohhhh wait...there was another time he sat. These two young ladies made a huge mark in the history of the store and in our hearts. ❤️

Remember that one time Will sat down in the past 11 years? 😂😉. Here's evidence. It was during a lobster steaming event we did beside the store.

We open tomorrow May 14. Sooo many new arrivals in all departments!! While the new kitchen isn’t quite done food will be in full swing. Looking forward to seeing everyone. We have been busy!! ☀️

It's been a great 11 years in Dover-Foxcroft. In case you haven't heard, we're retiring. As we wind things down (May 21st will be our last day of business) we're doing some reminiscing and want to share with you! Back in 1995, a new Shop 'n Save was built in Houlton, Maine. Will was the store manager, yet had to be brought out to the front of the building by the district manager to be shown that nowhere on the sign did it say Will's Shop 'n Save. He ran it like he owned it and that's when he became determined to one day truly own his own store. Here are our girls, Abby and Emily, way back when.

So here's the deal. We brought in 50% more lobsters than last year for Mother's Day and they are now all spoken for!
