Beyond Nirvana

Video 4/5 is up!! Old Age is a little-known demo the band recorded but never finished. Kurt mumbled though much of the song with incoherent lyrics, but all of the structure is there. It's too bad, as we think it's one of the band's most beautiful songs. Just a handful of chords and a catchy, sentimental melody. Hole released this track in a number of different variations as well, including a haunting Unplugged version with some of Courtney's own lyrics. Old Age is truly one of our favorites. Enjoy!

Video 3/5 is up!! Pennyroyal Tea is another awesome In Utero cut. Written in 1990, it's songs like this one that point to the REM-style influences underlying the band's music. Strip away all the distortion, and you're left with some jangly chords, acoustic guitar, and crooning vocals. We love it.
