XNR003 // Delta Function NOW AVAILABLE
‘Delta Function’ is a 3-track EP of rave music carved to the sound of digital futures, recreating classic sounds via otherworldly experimentalism.
“Compligtd’s ‘Delta Function’ seems to distill out of two temporalities, two oblique points in musical time. On one hand, it sounds like a record referencing a plethora of UK club sounds... the woozy womp of the last decade’s DnB, the kinetic breaks of neo-garage and the torrid, alien spatiality of jungle. Yet at the same time these apparent references are marked by the internationalist experimentalism of spaces like XNOR and assemblyline, the two digital homelands of this Denver producer and label head. This is particularly exemplified on the EP’s final track Orange Shift, where these aforesaid influences are digested such that club sounds re-emerge cavernous and chthonic, dancefloor sonics both deconstructed and reiterated emerge in a future-trap melange of atmosphere and bass.
It is this dyad that essentially characterises the EP. Rave music newfangled out the workshop and refreshed lineage of experimental electronics. What is supremely interesting is how projects of this kind reintroduce the futurity once located in the tunes of UK rave. Detractors might state that the touch of science-fiction replaces a prescience innately present to the music of that prior era. Yet, as again particularly exemplified by Orange Shift, with its otherworldly interpolation of tinctures of the past in the production of the unheard, there is a thrum of excitement and remote mystery when history and the hands of a contemporary producer meet.”

golden furniture’s ‘Simple Helps People Like It’ OUT NOW on all platforms!! Link in bio. Experience this fantastic 4-track EP of breakbeats and rhythmic experimentation.
“This new EP exemplifies a concentration in golden furniture’s catalogue. Across an oeuvre encapsulated by an unique sound, equal parts mutant muzak, acidified plunderphonics and blitzkrieg breakcore, gf’s work is defined by a split between puckishness and intensified abrasion. Simple Helps People Like It is a record of drums. Not quite a purist investigation into the omega point of uptempo breaks, but a record of patterns and surprise. Many of the longer, sample-centric interludes of his prior work are not found here. Focalized instead is an accelerated subjectification of the drum loop’s ferocity. He straddles the drums’ heightened captivation and their acerbic rapidity, juggling absorption and antagonism.
With its bleating pulses of bass, more minimalist sound design and skittering, crackling technoid drum loops, SHPLI sounds as if the EP could both be an adoration of acid and an enquiry into what results when it’s pushed to its more overwhelming outer limits. Repetition can here be entrancing - many of the frills on closing track A Large Plate certainly push the track toward the sense it’s gf’s clearest flirtation with the dancefloor’s hypnotism. But equally that which is repeated is extreme from the off, such that we’re not simply intoxicated, but able to recognize a music that, because of its examination of the outer reaches of both tempo and drum, engenders hesitation and thought.” - of

NOW AVAILABLE // XNR001 // IMMERSION BREAKER
https://too.fm/immersionbreaker
Immersion Breaker is a ubiquity of flourishes that destabilize the containment limits of “dance” music. At almost every moment some meaningful embellishment skitters by, nauseating the notion of comfort, perforating any schema that could be found beneath it all.
