Names matter.

In the q***r and transgender community, a “birth name” (sometimes called a deadname) is the name a person was given at birth, while a “chosen name” reflects the identity, authenticity, and self-expression of who they are today.

Using someone’s chosen name is more than preference—it’s an act of respect, affirmation, and safety. For many individuals, being recognized by their chosen name can reduce anxiety, increase trust, and support emotional well-being.

At Chroma Wellness Center, we believe affirming care starts with honoring each person’s identity, pronouns, and lived experience.

Everyone deserves to be called by the name that feels like home.

“Therapy isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about helping you feel safe enough to be yourself.”

At Chroma Wellness Center, we believe healing begins with safety, connection, and being seen without judgment. Therapy can help individuals build trust in themselves, regulate stress, process trauma, and reconnect with who they truly are—not who the world told them to be.

You deserve support that honors your identity, your story, and your healing journey.

What is Minority Stress?

Minority stress refers to the chronic emotional strain that can come from experiencing stigma, discrimination, rejection, or feeling unsafe because of one’s identity. LGBTQIA+ individuals often carry this stress daily—sometimes without even realizing it.

Signs of minority stress may include:• Constant anxiety or hypervigilance• Feeling pressure to hide parts of yourself• Exhaustion from “masking” or code-switching• Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe• Increased depression, isolation, or burnout

Minority stress is real—and it can significantly impact mental health and overall wellness. Healing starts with affirming spaces, supportive relationships, and care that recognizes the impact of lived experience.

At Chroma Wellness Center, we provide trauma-informed, identity-affirming care designed to support healing, connection, and long-term wellness.

The Met Gala reminds us that creativity is more than fashion—it’s self-expression, identity, courage, and art. ✨

This year’s celebration of bold design and q***r creativity was a powerful reminder that there is no one way to be yourself. Whether through fashion, art, movement, music, or simply how you show up in the world—your authenticity matters.

Celebrate the parts of yourself that stand out.
Celebrate your creativity.
Celebrate YOU.
