Client testimonial time with Lisa!
As someone dealing with back pain (sciatica, bulging discs, and arthritis), finding a gym that truly knows how to train around injuries has been huge for me. At Koru Movement, I’ve received personalized programming focused on strengthening my core, glutes, quads, and hamstrings, and it has made a real difference. I’m significantly stronger and my pain has been noticeably reduced.
The programming feels thoughtful and intentional, not generic, and I genuinely feel supported and safe here. I’m able to challenge myself without fear of making things worse. Highly recommend Koru Movement, especially if you’re dealing with injuries or chronic pain and still want to get stronger. Thanks Lisa!

Fear gets a bad reputation. (Maddox with the inspiration here!)
We treat it like a red light.
Like something is wrong.
Like it means stop.
But fear is usually a signal, not a stop sign.
It shows up when you’re about to grow.
When you’re about to have the hard conversation.
When you’re about to raise your standards.
When you’re about to step into a version of you that feels unfamiliar.
Your nervous system doesn’t know the difference between danger and expansion. It just knows, “This is new.”
And new can feel uncomfortable.
I’ve learned not to eliminate fear, but to listen to it.
Sometimes it’s telling you to prepare better.
Sometimes it’s telling you to slow down.
And sometimes it’s simply pointing toward the exact direction you need to walk.
Courage isn’t the absence of fear.
It’s moving with it.
Next time fear shows up, don’t slam the brakes.
Pause. Breathe.
And ask yourself if this a warning…
or is this growth knocking?

Most people think aging is about wrinkles.
It’s not.
It’s about muscle.
Muscle is what keeps you capable. It’s what lets you carry your kids, travel freely, play sports, and move through your day with confidence. It supports your metabolism, your brain, your posture, and your independence.
Building muscle isn’t about looking a certain way.
It’s about protecting your future self.
Sleep well.
Eat enough protein.
Lift consistently.
Manage your stress.
Hydrate.
Do it today, and you’re not just building strength…
You’re building freedom

You don’t need to try harder
There’s something I’ve noticed in my own life, and in almost every person I’ve worked with.
You act in line with who you believe you are.
Not who you want to be.
Not who you say you are.
But who you believe you are.
When someone believes they’re “the kind of person who trains,” they don’t negotiate with the alarm clock. They just get up.
When someone believes they’re “the kind of person who is present with their kids,” the phone stays in the other room a little more often.
When someone believes they’re “the kind of person who keeps their word,” they follow through. Consistently.
It’s alignment.
I’ve experienced this shift myself more than once.
There were seasons where I was trying to prove something. Trying to be disciplined. Trying to be better.
And it always felt heavier than it needed to.
Things changed when I stopped asking, “What should I do?”
And started asking, “Who am I becoming?”
Because once that became clear, the actions followed naturally.
These days, a lot of what I do isn’t driven by motivation. It comes from identity.
I train because I’m someone who takes care of his body.
I have honest conversations because I’m someone who values truth.
I slow down and listen because I’m someone who wants to be fully here for the people I love.
With intention.
You don’t need to overhaul your entire life overnight.
Just start with this question:
Who is the person you’re stepping into now?
And then today, let one small action come from that place.
You might be surprised how quickly things begin to move

Most people think resilience is something you either have or you don’t.
It’s not.
It’s built.
It’s built the first day you get up when you don’t want to.
It’s built when you tell the truth instead of pretending you’re fine.
It’s built when you take one step forward while every part of you wants to stay stuck.
Resilience isn’t a personality trait.
It’s a decision.
It’s also one of the things I’m most proud of.

Had a good chat with my brother earlier this week (thanks Nate!) around the subject of giving without the expectation of receiving anything in return. Here’s what we spoke about.
We are often taught to measure everything.
Reps. Wins. Revenue. Results.
And also… relationships.
“If I do this, I should get that.”
“If I show up this way, they should respond that way.”
“I’ve given enough.”
But keeping score is bu****it.
Giving without the expectation of receiving isn’t weakness.
When you give because it’s who you are, not because of what you’ll get, things start to shift.
You become steady.
You become free.
You stop negotiating your character.
We don’t serve to be noticed.
We lead because it aligns with our values.
We become people that love their partners, their kids, their friends not as a transaction, but as a standard.
And here’s the paradox:
When you stop giving to get, you often receive more than you imagined.
Respect.
Trust.
Peace.
Depth in your relationships.
But even if you didn’t, you’d still win.
Because you lived in alignment.
This weekend, ask yourself:
Where am I giving with strings attached?
And what would it look like to give simply because that’s the person I choose to be?
Leadership.
Maturity.
Freedom.
Let’s be people who give from fullness, not from negotiation.

Client review time!
“KORU Movement has been an indispensable part of my life for the last few years. It has helped me regain a lot of strength and better overall range of motion. However, the real total health benefits have been more mental and emotional. Jason has helped me develop tools and habits to manage stress that have helped me be a better husband and father and a more content person. You will not find a trainer/gym who cares more about your wellbeing and helping you reach your goals than Koru Movement.”

How you live your life in the 23 hours outside of the gym matters more for pain AND performance than the hour you spend in the gym.
If you’re dealing with back (or knee…or shoulder…etc), you won’t find an exercise, supplement, or recovery gadget that does more for your pain than:
>Sleeping 7-9 hours a night
>Staying hydrated
>Avoiding sedentary behaviors
>Managing stress
>Eating right
These seem like “little things,” but they’re not; they’re the BIG things.
Focus on what matters most.

When your body is depleted, everything feels heavier.
Stress hits harder. Patience runs thinner. Small problems feel overwhelming.
This isn’t a mindset issue, it’s a capacity issue.
Strength builds more than muscle.
It builds resilience. Regulation. Presence.
When your body is strong, you don’t react as much.
You respond. You stay steady. You show up better for your work, your family, and yourself.
Strong. Calm. Capable.
