Hello’s friends, thanks for stopping by.
Today I’m sharing a 36x36” painting titled “Forest Melody”.
This gorgeous piece is part of my Forest Reflections Series, where backgrounds are created first in multiple layers, and the trees are added afterward.
In most of the pieces, the trees appear clearly. They’re abstracted but definitely defined.
Here I wanted something different. I didn’t add the final layer of defined trees because I loved how they showed up in the second layer. I decided to allow them to remain more of a suggestion, as if you’re standing quietly in the forest, and they begin to reveal themselves slowly, not all at once.
With the soft dissolving edges, it feels less like looking AT trees, and more like being inside the forest itself. There’s a sense of reflection here, not just of light and landscape, but of memory, stillness and time.
This painting asks you to linger, and witness what naturally appears, to experience the visual language.
It perfectly captures that moment when nature feels both grounding, and slightly mysterious.

Mom and I officially created 100 small paintings in 100 days!! I’m sooooooo proud of her!!!
I’ll be sharing soon about what I learned through this process! Now to get back to creating my large paintings!!

Small Works Saturday
“Storm Over Tempestuous Waters” 10”x8”x1.5”
This original acrylic painting is part of my Beautiful Storm series. If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I typically paint very large. This may be the first seascape I have ever done on 10”x 8” canvas! I think it is gorgeous and so beautifully dramatic I would not have thought such a small canvas could pack such a punch!! I’ve always found it incredibly hard to paint small but this was a lovely experience. If you’ve ever watched a storm over the sea, especially one with lots of lightning then you know it’s quite an electrifying experience! Even if you’re watching from far away, you can almost feel the lightning go through your body!
