You made a gauge swatch… and it doesn’t match the pattern. Now what?

The good news is this is completely normal. Most knitters need to adjust their needle size before starting a project.

✔️ Too many stitches? Your gauge is tight — try going up a needle size.

✔️ Too few stitches? Your gauge is loose — try going down a needle size.

Knit another swatch and measure again until your gauge matches the pattern.

Save this for later if you’re knitting sweaters or other garments. Tomorrow I’ll wrap up the Gauge Series with a quick recap of everything we covered.
