Old Red Grandpa came to the shelter as a stray on 5/26 and is estimated to be about 5 years old. Weighing in at 43 pounds, this handsome gentleman is the perfect mix of calm companion and playful best friend.

Old Red Grandpa walks beautifully on a leash, loves treats, and already knows how to sit when asked. He's even working on his treat-catching skills... although he might tell you that any missed catches are the thrower's fault! 😂

This sweet boy loves people and enjoys spending time with his human friends. While he's generally a laid-back guy, he still gets excited and enjoys playtime when the mood strikes. This adorable little lady is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs just 22.6 pounds. Emmy came to the shelter as a stray on 5/22 and is likely fully grown. While she's currently listed as a Beagle mix, we think she may have some Chihuahua or Rat Terrier mixed in too!

Emmy is incredibly sweet, but shelter life has been a little overwhelming for her. She's a shy girl who is still learning that people can be kind and trustworthy. Beneath that timid exterior is a loving dog who just wants a safe place to call home.

Emmy would thrive in a quiet, patient home with a family willing to give her the time and understanding she needs to come out of her shell. Watching a scared dog learn to trust again is one of the most rewarding experiences, and Emmy is ready for someone to take that journey with her.

This handsome guy came to the shelter as a stray on 5/27 and is now ready to find a family of his very own. Sam is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs just 7.5 pounds, making him the perfect-sized companion for cuddles and lap time!

Sam has recently moved into our cat colony room, where he has quickly shown everyone what a wonderful cat he is. He is incredibly loving, outgoing, and enjoys spending time with people. Whether you're looking for a friend to greet you at the door or a buddy to keep you company while you relax, Sam is happy to volunteer for the job!

Not only does he adore human attention, but he also seems to get along great with the other cats in the colony room. His friendly personality and easygoing nature make him a fantastic candidate for many different types of homes.

Meet Funshine Bear! ☀️🐻

Do you, or someone you know, have experience with the Akita breed or other similar large guardian breeds?

Funshine Bear is estimated to be about 3 years old and came to the shelter as a stray on 5/21 alongside a male companion. She has recently become available for adoption and is ready to find a forever home of her own!

Weighing in at an impressive 112 pounds, this girl is truly a gentle giant. Just look at this sweet "little" teddy bear! 🧸 She has the softest fur, giant paws, and a calm, loving personality. Funshine Bear walks well on a leash, enjoys spending time with people, and seems to do just fine with other dogs.

Because of her size and breed characteristics, we are looking for adopters with experience with Akitas or similar breeds to help ensure a successful match. Akitas are known for being intelligent, loyal, and devoted companions, and Funshine Bear deserves a home that understands the unique qualities that make this breed so special.

🌟 Meet Serena! 🌟

This beautiful girl is Serena, a 3-year-old sweetheart weighing in at 56 pounds. Serena has been patiently waiting at the shelter for 3 months, and we can't understand why she hasn't found her forever family yet!

Serena came to the shelter with another dog, Venus (who many of you may remember from a previous post), and she absolutely loves spending time with her canine friends. Whether she's playing with Venus or romping around with other pups, Serena is always ready for fun.

Not only is she great with other dogs, but she also walks nicely on a leash, has the sweetest smile, and the most adorable wrinkles that make her impossible not to love. Serena is an active, happy girl who would thrive with a family looking for a fun and energetic companion to share adventures with.

As we turn the page to June, we're excited to celebrate a special milestone—20 years in our current shelter building! 🥳 To honor this anniversary and help even more animals find loving homes, all adoption fees will be just $20 throughout the month of June.

Meet Opal! 💎🐾

This sweet girl came to the shelter as a stray on 4/6, scared, skinny, and unsure of the world around her. While shelter life has been a big adjustment, Opal has been making wonderful progress and is slowly learning that people can be kind.

She is still building her confidence, but she has really started to open up to shelter staff and volunteers. Opal would love a patient family willing to continue helping her grow and learn to trust. Watching her personality emerge has been so rewarding!

One of our favorite things is catching her with her ears up—she is absolutely adorable and has the most beautiful eyes. 💕

As you can see, Opal loves spending time outside. She enjoys running the fence with the other pups, exploring the yard, and she walks well on a leash. With a little patience, love, and understanding, we know this girl will blossom into a wonderful companion.
