Throughout May, Carrie Steele-Pitts Home continued creating spaces for youth across Georgia to grow, connect, and build toward their futures serving more than 270 youth during National Foster Care Month.
Last month, youth participated in financial literacy workshops through Match Savings Program, covering topics such as budgeting, credit, banking, investing, fraud prevention, and goal setting.
One of our biggest highlights was an in-person community event on May 23rd filled with music, karaoke, games, scavenger hunts, food, and fellowship. Thanks to generous bicycle donations, including support from , youth also had the opportunity to participate in a bike giveaway.
Moments like these are about more than just activities they help build confidence, connection, and lasting support systems for youth and young adults impacted by foster care.

On May 27th, Carrie Steele-Pitts Home gathered on the Steele Bridge to accept a proclamation from the recognizing May as National Foster Care Month in Atlanta.
We want to thank Council Member Alex Wan for working with us to secure the proclamation, and his Chief of Staff, Lance, for presenting it to Executive Director Eloise Mitchell, Board Vice Chairman A.V. Powell, and CSPH staff.
We also want to thank our partners at for attending the event and for their continued partnership and support of CSPH since dedicating the Steele Bridge in honor of our organization three years ago.
This moment served as a powerful reminder that supporting youth and young adults impacted by foster care takes an entire community working together.

We recently had the opportunity to reconnect with Jamie and hear more about where life has taken her since her time at Carrie Steele-Pitts Home.
“Because of CSPH, I am now working with a nonprofit organization and have been there going on nine years as the Programs Manager. Thank you for introducing me to the nsoro scholarship and connecting me to meaningful employment opportunities.”
Today, Jamie serves as the Programs Manager at The nsoro Foundation, where she continues making an impact in the lives of young people.

Mother’s Day may have passed, but at Carrie Steele-Pitts Home we are still reflecting on the incredible impact of mothers, grandmothers, foster parents, adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, mentors, and all those who step into the role of caring for and supporting young people.
For many youth impacted by foster care, family and support can look different — but the presence of someone who shows up, encourages them, and reminds them they matter can make all the difference.
Today and every day, we are grateful for those who continue to provide love, guidance, stability, and hope to youth across Georgia. 💙

CSPH Voices Series 💙
“We have felt alone and isolated for so long. It was nice to be around others who get it.”
One TAGS Brave family recently shared these words after attending one of our programs — and it perfectly captures why this work matters.
For many families connected to foster care and adoption, support means more than resources.
It means community.
It means being understood.
It means knowing you don’t have to navigate the journey alone.
At Carrie Steele-Pitts Home, we’re committed to creating spaces where young people and families feel seen, supported, and encouraged every step of the way.
Thank you to every family who trusts us to walk alongside them. 💙

May is National Foster Care Month. 💙💛
For 138 years, Carrie Steele-Pitts Home has worked to ensure young people have what every child deserves: a place to belong, to grow, and to feel at home.
Recently, while exploring our archives, we found this powerful reflection from J.H., a former resident:
“What is a home?
What kind of question is that?
It’s a comforting place, with a big welcome mat.
Where is my home?
Ha!—where is yours?
My home is Carrie Steele—it’s two times better than yours.”
This National Foster Care Month, we honor the voices, resilience, and journeys of the young people who have shaped our story. Home is more than a building—it is safety, belonging, love, and opportunity.
Today, that mission continues as we serve youth across Georgia through housing, life skills, permanency support, and pathways to independence.
