We trust many people. We have confidence in the skill of the person who built our home, designed the bridge we cross, and drives the bus to keep us safe. We trust our friends and family members always to do what is best for us, and we want them to trust us also.

We can know that God always wants what is best for us. In the same way that we demonstrate our trust in others, we show our in God by following God’s way.

Over the next several weeks, perhaps until Easter, gather pieces of string to represent your friends. As you add a string to the collection, tell why that friend is important. Then, use those strings to make a strong cord.

You might consider making a friendship bracelet. There are directions here: https://theneonteaparty.com/online-craft-studio/friendship-bracelets/

How have family members helped you grow in body and spirit?

03/15/2022

The Bible tells us only one story about Jesus’ life during the time between his birth and his baptism: the time he stayed behind in the Temple (Luke 2:41-52). In the closing words of that story, we hear how Jesus’ childhood family helped him grow in body and spirit.

Our families are those who hold us dearly, deep within themselves, as Luke describes Jesus’ mother doing. They help us grow “in both body and spirit,” no matter how old we are, and bless us.

Through the years, Christians have decided to “give something up for Lent,” as a reminder that they are forgiven. If you didn't do so last week, take a moment to determine what sort of sacrifice you might make. You can get more ideas here:

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent. During Lent, we remember how God forgives us for all we do wrong, our sin. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus connects God’s forgiveness of us with our forgiveness of others. We are to forgive in the same way we have been forgiven.
