The Covid Virus may have thrown us all for a loop this spring, but thankfully we still were able to take care of our patients. We miss seeing all the "paw"rents faces, but enjoy every furry tail and warm nose! Its so fun to see how much the puppies and kittens grow in just a matter of weeks! Please enjoy some snapshots of our patients! Feel free to tag yourself and share!

Many of you have heard about a tiger at the Bronx Zoo testing positive for SARS-CoV-2. We have been getting a lot of questions about possible spread to and from our pets. Information changes daily, but the following is what we know todayā¦
There are several big cats (4 tigers and 3 lions) at the Bronx Zoo that developed respiratory signs after contact with an asymptomatic keeper who later became ill with Covid-19. One of the tigers was tested and confirmed to have SARS-Cov-2. Only one tiger was tested because, as you can imagine, obtaining a nasal swab would not be possible without anesthesia (itās difficult enough in humans!). Other large cats at the zoo have not developed any signs and the affected tigers and lions are otherwise doing well.
The big cats are different genus (Panthera) from domestic cats (Felis). According to national and international disease experts (including the CDC, WHO, the World Organization for Animal Health and others) there is no evidence to suggest that pets are easily infected or become ill with the coronavirus. Also, there is no evidence that infected pets can spread the virus to other pets or to people.
Many countries and localities in the US are āaheadā of us in the pandemic. The virus has been found in only 2 dogs and 2 cats from homes with Covid-19 positive people. However, we must remember the presence of virus does not equal infection. No dogs or cats have been reported ill with Covid-19. IDEXX, a major veterinary laboratory, has tested thousands of samples samples in dogs and cats since mid-February and no positives were found.
While fur is not a good surface to transmit the virus, out of an abundance of caution, the CDC has recommended that someone else in the household care for pets if you are ill with Covid-19. It is also recommended that veterinary professionals handling patients from Covid-19 positive households use PPE, which is part of why we are asking all those questions before we bring your pet inside. A good rule of thumb is to always wash your hands before and after you interact with pets.

Turk isnāt sure how he feels about this social distancing thing... He definitely misses our wonderful clients coming in to love on him. We are reassuring him that when the time is right, things will return to normal. In the mean time, we are providing curb side service! Also, if you need any supplies or medications, just give us a call and we can get it ready! We appreciate everyoneās understanding and patience during this epidemic!
As we all take steps to stop the spread of COVID-19, we thought everyone could use a dose of cuteness! Help cheer everyone up by sharing how your pets are helping you shelter in!
We will have a new COVID-19 policy starting today, Wednesday March 18th.
Our office will be staffed to ensure availability of important health care needs. Pet foods and medications will be available to be refilled for our patients. We will continue to provide essential care to emergent and urgent patients. Non-urgent issues will need to be delayed. Elective procedures will be postponed to help preserve medical supplies.
In order to remain open to care for our patients and protect our staff, we are going to change to the following protocol to do our part to help stop the spread of this virus.
As things are changing daily, we may need to update these protocols as necessary.
*In order to maintain appropriate social distancing and keep everyone safe, we are going to limit access to our building to staff only.
* For appointments at our office, please call when you arrive. 636-586-3572
* The receptionist will confirm the needs of your pet and get a medical history over the phone.
* A member of our staff (who may be wearing personal protective equipment, such as a mask) will come to you to get your pet and bring them in for their exam. This will help us ensure we are keeping appropriate social distancing, by having minimal face to face contact.
* You may wait in your car during the exam.
* We will go over necessary treatments and exam findings over the phone. Please have your phone ready while you wait.
* Credit Card transactions can be done over the phone or a member of our staff will collect payment at your vehicle if you are paying by cash or check.
* We will bring your pet back to you.
* Please call ahead for any medications. Call when you arrive at the hospital and we can bring the medication out to you and collect payment.
We appreciate you for helping us to work through this process. We want to do our part to keep you and your pet healthy, as well as stop the spread of COVID-19.
Please call with any questions!
Turk and Orion were dressed to impress today! We hope everyone had a wonderful St.Patrickās Day! š
