Instead of posting a photo of the Twin Towers burning on Sept. 11, 2001, we wanted to share this photo of the Tower of Voices at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Somerset County. Standing 93 feet high, it features a wind chime for each of the 40 individuals who died on Flight 93 when the hijacked plane crashed in the field on that fateful day. It's often quite windy there at the 2,200-acre park and the sound of those wind chimes is breathtakingly beautiful. If you have a chance, visit the Flight 93 Memorial and never forget what happened on that tragic day.

Welcome to Mt. Olive Church. Sunday, 9:00 am.

The History and Purpose of Mt Olive

Mount Olive Church has a rich history of new beginnings over its extensive 125 year history. This is being reflected strongly in its current path to be a body of believers who accept the Bible as God’s Word and final authority for solutions in life. Hence, the believers feel a true sense of destiny to represent light in a dark world. The call upon this congregation continues to be one that encourages people to find their destiny in following Jesus Christ and in being His disciple.

Currently, we have a vision for ourselves and others; that is to more completely embrace faith in and obedience to Jesus Christ, the only personage in Whom salvation and eternal life can be found. Said simply, Jesus is the answer and solution for lost state of our culture, our nation and the world. Thus we are dedicated as disciples to be on a continuous path of learning how to be more like Him in discipleship.
Mt Olive has more recently begun a path of spiritual renewal and numerical growth. Dean Sharp came to the congregation as senior pastor in July, 2018. Today, the vision of God’s kingdom is represented in a long term plan to reach younger generational persons in our community with this message, as well as help change other regions in the world through strong outreach. The current decade of activity focuses on growth spiritually and numerically.

This translates into a focus on embracing a New Testament pattern for both life and church government with the function of being a “Biblical Church.” To represent that shift, the church is focused on operating as an organic body of believers dedicated to reaching our community with our message. We are gradually learning how to operate not so much as an institutional church, but as disciples meeting the culture head on wherever we go. Every member is called upon to minister and to find their fulfillment through their spiritual gifts and callings. This emphasis continues strongly today through opportunities for members to grow in their spiritual journey, to be continually learning and disciple, as well as mentored into living more like our Lord. Seen in small group gatherings and corporate activities, our drive is to become better followers.

We have plans to serve the Lord in many ways; such as reaching and training youth and young people, Pre-K through 12th grade, college age, and young working adults, sharing with all the avenue of finding life in Christ.

We have gained a marvelous vision of what our destiny should be as followers in God’s kingdom, We are a safe place to grow in Christ. The apostolic vision of Paul for the nations and that of having church leaders continuing to be at the heart of an equipping church is our vision too. We have a deep desire to see the kingdom of God existing daily in our homes, where families are led to serve Christ, all led led by spiritual fathers and mothers.
