#wedorecover #TogetherWeCan

10/13/2021

Do you know where to go for support if a family member is struggling with opioids? What about other addictions? Which facilities can you go to for help with safe disposal of needles? What about for your teenager's alcohol abuse? Do you know how to use Narcan in the event of an overdose encounter? Do you have access to Narcan? (Spoiler: You will at this event!)

Our Red Ribbon Resource Fair is next Tuesday evening, October 19, 2021 from 5:30-7:30 in the back parking lot of the Danville Board of Education. We are serving FREE dinners (Hamburger or Hot Dog, chips, drinks, and dessert). We will have Hometown Radio doing a live broadcast. We have over 15 area resources from mental and physical health to recovery and support coming to share their information with YOU.

If you want to know what to do and where to go when addiction or substance use occurs in your circle, this event will help you. It is always closer than you think.

Thank you to Boyle County ASAP, Danville Schools, and the area support networks we have encountered that are working tirelessly to aid our city.

See you next Tuesday!

This is a great resource! Safely dispose of your meds!

Did you know EMRMC Outpatient Pharmacy is the newest SAFE disposal site in Boyle County?

Did you know 70% of opioids prescribed for surgical use remain unused and available for misuse? 50-85% of he**in users began by misusing prescription opioids first?

Safe disposal is a safe and easy way to help our community #healtogether and #EndOverdose!!

UPDATE for tomorrow’s event!!!!

Due to the prediction of heavy rain on Tuesday, we are moving the Overdose Awareness Event to the covered pavilion at the Boyle County University of Extension Office, 99 Corporate Drive, Danville. Date and time remain the same: Tuesday, Aug. 31, 7 to 8 PM. Because there are no side walls on the pavilion, there may be blowing rain, but we are hoping that won’t be the case. The covered pavilion is past the Extension Main Office, and also on your left. There is ample parking. We are asking all attendees to mask, and will have masks available for those who need them. Please pass this information on to others who may be planning on attending.

September is Recovery Month and it will be here before you know it!

Last year, we were able to showcase the stories and journeys of people in this area who are in recovery. Our goal was to post 30 stories—one for each day of the month and we were so happy to achieve that goal!

We want to share at least 30 stories again this year so we need YOUR help!

Please share this post with someone you know that’s in recovery that is willing to share their story. We would love before and after pictures and their testimony.

Send us your recovery stories here by messenger or by email to [email protected]

Our Voices: Why do we treat students like criminals? End school-to-prison pipeline.

"For every child that is pushed out of school, there is an increased risk of school dropout and entry into the criminal justice system."

Our Voices: Why do we treat students like criminals? End school-to-prison pipeline. Our Voices: We need to face the reality that harsh disciplinary practices and school-based policing do not keep kids safe and have needlessly criminalized countless students, mostly Black and brown.
