Homeownership allows you to put more money in your pocket than you know.
Which of these tax codes are you currently maximizing?
We moved from Seattle to Dallas almost four years ago, and we have absolutely loved every bit of it. Our only regret is probably not moving sooner!
Dallas has given us so much more than we expected. We are building a community we truly love, and these tips have been incredibly helpful for us:
Connect with your neighbors. Show up with a drink or a small gift and knock on their doors. Introduce yourself and take the time to get to know them — don’t be the stranger on the street. From that very first meeting, pay attention to the vibe and get a sense of whether it feels like a good fit.
Find a church. You may need to visit a few before you find the one that feels like home. Look for a church that offers a healthy balance of solid teaching and a strong, welcoming community.
Reconnect with old friends who moved before you. Let them know you’re in the city — they are invaluable resources for discovering local gems, great deals, and insider knowledge about navigating the area.
Start a new activity, whether that’s learning a new skill or joining a gym. When you show up to these spaces, be open and friendly rather than closed off — you’d be surprised how many genuine connections can come from simply being approachable.
Host events — potlucks, game nights, you name it. Gather the few people you’ve already met, open your home to them, and make a point to show up for their events too. Invest in those relationships with genuine warmth and intention.
Attend networking events. Dallas has plenty of them. Seek out spaces where you can connect with people who share your interests and values.
Which of these have you tried, and which has worked best for you? Comment below — and send me a DM if you’re considering a move to Dallas and would like expert guidance on making it happen!
