Man where to start and how to recap on such an awesome weekend of racing!
HRT attended the Temple Party Drags with VTRA 2 day race. I managed to pack both my road glide and sportster into my tiny 5x10 trialer and had hopes of taking the street bagger class and fastest street.
We entered a total of 7 classes all together this weekend between both races days.
How VTRA does 2days races is each day is a separate race with individual trophies and pay outs.
We entered:
OUTLAW BAGGER - 1st day ( fin was only one signed up so I entered to give him a race)

STREET BAGGER- 6-8 bike turn out - both days

FASTEST STREET HD IN TX(FSH*T) -both days

OPEN COMP - 2nd day

FASTEST HD WINNERS SHOOT OUT - last race of event for $1000 and a complete nitrous kit.

I've never entered 2 bikes into a race and across multiple classes. It was some serious juggling, but with the help of the team we pulled it off incredibly well. It was real feel over 102Β° all day Saturday... brutal.. and hot lapping round after round on both bikes.. it was tough.
Sunday morning we wake up to high 50Β° Temps and a high for the day of around 70Β°. Very welcomed lol.

So onto the racing...

1st day took the win in FSH*T. Competition is getting tighter and tighter every race. This is "non bagger" for those of you who know it by that name. Think it was 8-10 bikes.

Raced Fin for auto finals 1st round in Outlaw Bagger. He has a procharger on his street bike so by default had to run the Outlaw class. Noone else signed up with him so I bought into the class to give him a race. We double stage in, first bulb goes orange, I started to hit it to let out and in that split second notice green didn't light, so grabbed front brake and stopped bike before I red lit.. thankfully I shallow stage and didn't red light but the tree was set wrong and we should of been on a pro tree. Lights go green we both hit it.. complete spin fest for us both.. 2 pretty bad runs on both parts but fin pulls the win. Get to the ticket booth and lady says they want us to re run it because tree was wrong. Talked to Fin, he was down to rerun them, so we line them back up. I cut a killer light, fin not far behind, I click 3rd, he hits 3rd misses shift, falls back out of view for a second. But then right back next to me coming hard! I win with a MOV of 0.01. Freaking awesome race!

Street bagger made it to the finals. Competition was tuff. I was there with a 900lb roadglide and racing some pretty dedicated race baggers, but I'm not one to bitch. If it fits the rules, it is what it is.
I cut the tree down, get out in front, about 3rd gear he rails past me, beats me by about a full bike length with a 6.58 to my 6.98. Still a great race, I didn't make it easy that's for sure! Lol 2nd day raced Jay Dekergland in the finals of street bagger. He has a very quick roadking set up pretty right for the purpose.
We had 2 solid races. First race was like a 6.8 to my 6.9 but barley nudged me, I bought back in, Made it to finals, raced him again. Got him off the tree and the hit, but powered around me about the same point the other bagger did, just slightly less. It was another really tight race but in the end, I didn't have enough to beat them. Took another runner up in street bagger.
FSH*T - Made it finals again for the 2nd time vs Harley Garcia. Always a good time racing these guys in this class. Never know wtf is going to happen. I know without a doubt it's the most exciting class to watch. So many monster wheelies haha. Harley is a great racer and always brings the heat much like David G Sposito.

Open comp is a tough one.. the bagger is so stupid consistent I had to enter this class on Sunday. Bagger ran a 7.07, 7.04, 7.03 in a row the night before and a 6.97, 7.03 Sunday morning. In Open comp you take your fastest qualifying time, subtract 0.05 from it and that is your set dial for the remainder of the race. It makes things pretty interesting.
1st round I draw of all people... JL Powers
JL is a incredibly good bracket racer, very tough to beat and if you do, it is one of those celebrated moments πŸ˜„. We line up, he is on a 7.08 dial I am on a 6.97 dial. We run them down. I run a 6.997 John runs a 7.09.. like I said.. incredibly good. This is a no bar street tire vrod BTW.
So I buy back in for 2nd round of open comp. Random draw at the staging lanes.. and guess who I draw... JL AGAIN! Lol..
So rematch of first round. We get out the hole, bagger is on freaking rails.. we get about 30ft out and I see him fall out of sight, knowing he is always on his game and had a good launch, if he is slowing down, than I am breaking out. I slam on the rear brakes about 20-25 ft out from the finish, trying to slow it down. Cross the line on the brakes locked up at 98 mph and run the baggers fastest pass to date resulting in a 6.87!! John ran a 7.08 on his 7.08 dial. Like I said you celebrate the days you beat him lmao. Always great competition and I don't mind loosing with a personal best! Should had just stayed in it! Probably was a 6.7x run!

So ended the race with 6 winner circle appearances in total with 3 wins and 2 runner ups.

I know I said 6 winner circle appearances.. so here is where things get interesting.

After the final FSH*T race, I went straight back to camp and started loading. Decided to put sportster in back of truck instead, so I unhooked the trailer and loaded bike in back of truck with everything, rehook trailer up and load roadglide up. I am about 90% completely packed and I start hearing Fastest of Texas shoot out to the lanes. Wait what??? Wtf did I miss??
Come to find out... there was a separate race between the 2 top racers in FSH*T for a 100% payout $1000 pot and a $1,800 nitrous kit to the winner.
Well.. my stuff is all packed.. and hooked up ready to go.. it takes all of about 5 seconds to contemplate, do I unhook and tear this sportster out, rear gear up and try to make it to the Lanes in time?
Well F*** yea... that's $1000 and nitrous we are talking about! I s**t you not on this.. less than 4 minutes later, that truck was unhooked the sporty was out of the bed, I was redressed and headed to the staging lanes. Within 15 minutes I am reloading the bike back up in truck with another win in the books. This would be the 3rd final against Harley Garcia this weekend lol.

Talk about a rush..!

Can't say enough great things about these group of racers and teams/families.

We have some seriously fierce competitors racing here in Texas and VTRA is really starting to grow!

Want to end this with a shout out to Monty Garrelts Jebb Trione Law Tigers Dallas.
And Little River Dragway staff for making this such a great race and event!

For anyone considering if they should make the drive and come support this new organization, I just want yall to know.. EVERYONE that helps in runinng and organizing VTRA are 100% volunteers. They don't make a dime off this. Evey bit of the money made goes to operating cost and everything else is back to the racers πŸ’―

2 bike entry classes payed nearly $300.
ET paid over $1500. All other classes were anywhere from $400-1000. Payouts are great, the people are Great and the competition is on point.
Come join us!!

To end this long sorry session I have to thank my Amazing wife Ash for supporting me all the way through this venture.
My parents Brian and Tami for their incredible support of HRT and this passion we have all grown together for racing over the past few years.

To
Black Gold H-D for the support you've given me over the years and this season!

To Anthony at Hard Drive Vtwin(WPS) for the help and support with tires and such.

To Tony Tarell Al3rt GPS for the help supplying HRT with race fuel to go out and dominate this weekend! Hit this guy up for all your assest protection! His mini GPS trackers are super legit! Don't let your stuff get stolen!

Dave Conforti with WWB- because it's the best around period. Second to none.

Rekluse Motor Sports for building one of the best clutches I have used to date. The Torq Drive is one bad ass clutch.

I am sure I'm forgetting many but this is getting to be a book so I'll end this with a thank you to all of my followers who care and have watched this progression over the years! MUCH MORE TO COME! We will only continue to get better and faster. β˜οΈπŸπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
