I am very sad, Manchán Magan has passed away. He is one of the people responsible for the current revival of the Irish language, especially among young people. Blessings to his family and friends. I had hoped to meet him in person and give him a “go raibh míle maith agat.” Will have to wait now!

Tá brón an domhain orm, tá Manchán Magan imithe ar shlí na fírinne. Bhí sé ar dhuine de na daoine ba chúis leis an athbheochan atá ar siúl sa Ghaeilge faoi láthair, go háirithe i measc na n-óg. Beannachtaí dá mhuintir agus dá chairde.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

Go raibh maith agat a mhúinteoir! ☘️ ☘️ ☘️

Writer, broadcaster and documentary maker Manchán Magan has died aged 55.
Mr Magan was born in Donnybrook, Dublin in 1970. His family confirmed his death this morning.

Mr Magan produced and presented a number of acclaimed travel documentaries, many with his film-making brother Ruán.

He also made many TV documentaries, including ‘No Béarla’ which saw him travel around Ireland speaking only Irish.

His latest programme was ‘Listen to the Land Speak’, where he referenced his illness and told viewers, “I’m on borrowed time”.

Proud of the homies in NAMEDAY! Thanks for letting me work on your first EP and first single. Shoegaze is a lot of fun, I get to blow out my Neve preamps and Stam tube compressors galore! Thanks for the trust and patience. Can’t ask for more as a producer and engineer.
