DFW Running Talk is the premier podcast for runners in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Host Chris Detzel delivers weekly episodes featuring in-depth conversations with North Texas running experts, coaches, athletes, and community members. From beginner tips to advanced ma

Pacing races is incredibly fulfilling, like being a cheerleader for others reaching their goals. I've paced many halves and even a marathon (once!). It's fun to encourage people, whether they hit a PR or just finish.

At our age, it's about more than just living faster; it's about living better. We want to feel healthy, energetic, and truly enjoy life's adventures. It's about being present for family, from watching kids grow to meeting grandkids. Every run, every effort, makes that future possible.

Neil shares his experience at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, a powerful fundraiser. He was deeply moved by the city's 'Run to Remember' spirit, the diverse music, and the community's incredible support for their city.

πŸƒ NEW EPISODE: Neil RobinsonπŸƒ

A 40-minute marathon PR. A 1:30:56 half at Cowtown. A Boston Qualifier at 52 years old.

Here's the kicker β€” Neil was the worst guy on his high school tennis team, quit running entirely after blowing out his knee in grad school, and didn't even consider himself "a runner" until his late 40s.

What changed? Nothing flashy. More miles (950 β†’ 1,450 β†’ 1,960 over three years), better nutrition, the Pfitzinger books, and Saturday mornings with the White Rock Running Co-op.

His best line of the whole episode: "The unfriendly runners are staying home. The ones who show up are kind." πŸ’›

If you think your fastest days are behind you, give this one a listen. Neil's proof they might be ahead of you.

The Countdown to the Cup 5K β€” and walked away convinced this is one you don’t skip. DFWRUNS

Here’s why:
πŸ† A finisher medal shaped like the World Cup itself
πŸ†• Brand-new USATF-certified course (everyone PRs β€” no one’s run it)
⬇️ Downhill finish with the lake in view
⚽ Age group awards featuring the official Dallas World Cup ball
🍻 Flying Saucer after-party right at the finish
🌎 Virtual option β€” people are signing up from Houston and beyond

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first one on U.S. soil since 1994. Dallas is hosting more matches than any host city β€” 9 of them, including the semifinal. And this 5K drops 11 days before kickoff.

World Cups are generational. This race is once in a lifetime.
