They did it again!

A couple of weekends ago Juan Hermenegildo raced the finale of the Arkansas Enduro Series in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was able to hold on to 3rd place on both days of the race. This secured him 2nd overall for the series. Next year he will be stepping up from the Men 19-39 category to Expert.

Then this past weekend, Carlos Hernandez travelled down to the Spider Mountain Bike Park in Burnet, TX for the last race of the Hill Country Downhill Series. He finished in 3rd place.

So much winning from these guys!! Great job!!

We think the pink jerseys have also been helping secure podium spots 😀

The Gudrun Mountain Bike Festival over the years has become a team favorite and grown into more than just about racing bikes as we gather to share stories, memories, meals and good times. This year’s event held a particular signifigance as we paid tribute and honored our teammate, friend, chief cat-herder and Captain, Richard White.

Being held in November, we have come to expect the weather to be less than ideal, so we were pleasantly surprised when we were greeted with sunshine and warmth all weekend. Race day was absolutely beautiful as we headed out onto the course wearing our special pink “Riding with RW jerseys.”

dominated the Women’s e-bike mini Enduro. In spite of losing her chain during one of the stages, she managed to best her closest competitor by almost 3 minutes!

It had been 8 years since last raced, not only was he not last, he finished right in the middle of the pack at 6th for the Men’s E-MTB Mini. took 2nd in the same category, barely breaking a sweat.
carlos had long sought a 1st place finish and finally accomplished it, taking the top step for Men 40-49. rode smooth and fast, taking 2nd for Men 30-39.
slo.pro.mtb took on the pro-course, she had some difficulties on a couple of the stages but her perseverance paid off as she brought home the win.

As we rode some of his favorite trails that weekend, Richard’s spirit was with us. He is gone but will never be forgotten .

For all of our friends that are still here: please check in on your loved ones. Call them, ask them dumb questions, remind them that you care. For those that are having a difficult time, please know you matter to someone. Don’t be too proud to reach out, talk about your feelings and/or ask for help. You can call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of fellow Beard and dear friend, Richard White. He was a valued and well loved member of our team and the DFW mountain bike community.

He spent countless hours of his time volunteering with DORBA in various roles and advocating for mountain bike trails in the area. He acted as our Enduro team captain for the past few years (which he described as herding cats) and could always be counted on to lend a hand and provide encouragement at team events.

He had a vast photo archive of fellow teammates and riders (many embarrassing) that he could post up at a moments notice, he was uncanningly quick with that. We will also miss his many stories, like the “whale” at Northshore. It took those of us that were on that particular team ride a few minutes to realize he was talking about a well (that British accent).

At the end of every Enduro Race he would state triumphantly “I didn’t die!” How we wish that was still so. We will miss our Sister Grove World Champ, Richard White.

All of our thoughts go out to his family at this most difficult time.
