The City of Rowlett has launched a new initiative called SHINE (Supporting Humanities, Integration, Neurodiversity, and Expression) to provide accessible arts programs for individuals disabilities. This is me and one of my clients after his performance in the Rockwall Community Playhouse S.T.A.R. players production: Broadway Jr. Review. He did an amazing job and it was so exciting to see him shine on the stage. S.T.A.R. players is a program for people ages 16+ who have Down Syndrome in the local area. They do a production every summer, and this is his third year in the program. Speech Language Therapy benefits aren’t just for younger kids- teens, young adults and adults can still benefit from working with an SLP to maximize their communication skills.
