This prestigious award, named in memory of Mary Ellen Graham, mother of Marty Grunder, founder of The Grunder Group, honors individuals who exemplify exceptional service and dedication to their communities. The award was established by Brodie Bruner—who is no longer with us, may he rest in peace. We would like to extend our gratitude to Weathermatic for graciously accepting the honor of continuing this meaningful legacy.

Chris's leadership extends far beyond his business; he has made a lasting impact through his involvement with numerous organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Crystal Charity Ball, Cattle Baron's Ball, Klyde Warren Park, St. John's School, Leadership Dallas, and the Dallas Regional Chamber, among many others.

Through Bare Roots Landscape Solutions, Chris has fostered a culture that engages and empowers employees and team members, while bridging the gap between the green industry and small businesses in the DFW area. His dedication demonstrates that business success and community service go hand in hand.

Colin Fitzgibbons, a rising force in Dallas real estate whose fingerprints are on some of the region’s most ambitious mixed-use plays, has died at 46.

Fitzgibbons, president of Hunt Realty Investments, died from complications related to cancer, according to the Dallas Morning News, which first reported his passing. Hunt CEO Chris Kleinert called him an exceptional leader whose mix of intellect, loyalty and dry humor helped guide the firm through a stretch of major projects across the metroplex.

A Dallas native, Fitzgibbons came to the business from an unconventional path. After a stint as a sports reporter at the Washington Post, he shifted to commercial real estate at the Staubach Company in New York before returning home to earn an MBA from SMU. That pivot set him up for the role that first put him on the industry’s radar: a decade at KDC, where he helped steer two market-defining developments — Richardson’s $1.5 billion CityLine and Plano’s $3 billion Legacy West — along with Liberty Mutual’s 1-million-square-foot regional campus. Legacy West, in particular, became central to his professional story; he once described it as the project he was most proud of, crediting the business for rewarding “people who hustle.”

Congratulations to professors of landscape architecture Max Conrad and Charles Fryling, who were awarded lifetime achievement awards for their many years of service to the LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture (RRSLA). The awards were presented at the LSU RRSLA reception October 11, 2025, held in tandem with the 2025 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) national conference in New Orleans.

“We honor these faculty with Lifetime Achievement Awards, in recognition of their service to LSU throughout their careers, their dedication to the field of landscape architecture, and most of all, to the lives they devoted to their countless students,” said Arne Flaten, Dean of the LSU College of Art & Design.
