Cub Scouts offers citizenship, character, personal fitness and leadership for youth in grades K to 5. No matter what grade you are in, first through fifth, it can be a blast. Do you like to learn by doing? This is just the place. You can learn to tie knots, set up a tent, shoot a bow and arrow (archery). Have you ever cooked a meal on a campfire? Sent a secret code to a buddy? Built a birdhouse? P

volunteers make a positive impact in the lives of youth across America – during National Volunteer Month (April) and every other month of the year, too.
Today we’re honored to recognize Eugene Hong from the Metropolitan District in the Greater Los Angeles Council. Passionate about and helping kids grow, Eugene serves as Commissioner for his district, Committee Chair for Cub Scouts Pack 10 and Cubmaster for Pack 777.
A lifelong , Eugene continues to invest his time and energy into bringing (the best of) to life on the West Coast. He leads through example, engages in conversations that matter and lives out the and .
As Chang Kim, Committee Chair for Troop 777, explains: “During my time in Scouting, I have never seen anyone volunteer so much of their time to [give back]. I truly believe Eugene Hong is a special person who wants to see Scouting America expand and help kids with their future goals.”
We thank Eugene – and great volunteers like him – for making personal, accessible, enriching and FUN for California families past and present.

April marks National Volunteer Month!
In , volunteers and parents make all the character-building, family-focused fun possible. While we provide the age-appropriate, Scout Oath and Scout Law-centered program, volunteers make dreams reality. Not just in April, but year-round!
From pulling off , to teaching about good citizenship, to helping plan campouts, it takes a special kind of human – dedicated with a goofy side! – to lead kiddos. Today, we recognize Pack 1 Leader Oliver Boudreaux from Charlotte, North Carolina (in the Apache District of the Mecklenburg County Council,).
Here’s what a fellow Cub Scout parent had to share about Oliver:
“If you want to see the Scout Law in action, look no further than Oliver. He lives it every day by being helpful, kind, cheerful and trustworthy, and he inspires our Pack 1 Scouts to do the same. He also has a way of helping every adult find how they can contribute using their own strengths. Because of him, our pack is more welcoming, more capable and stronger. Oliver is truly a volunteer’s volunteer.
To Oliver and every passionate parent and volunteer: Thank you. YOU are making a difference in the lives of your kids and the future leaders of America.
