The City of Celina released its 2022-24 Strategic Plan, a document that highlights some of the new and renewed objectives and goals for its 25-year mission.

The bold plan was passed and adopted unanimously at the City Council Meeting in May. The Strategic Plan is available on the City’s website and will be shared over the coming weeks on all official social media platforms. Residents preferring a paper copy of the plan may make that request at Celina City Hall.

“This is such a great time to be in Celina, and we wanted to make certain a plan was in place to sustain the growth before us while maintaining the unique and wonderful culture we have here,” said Celina Mayor Sean Terry. “The unprecendented development within Celina’s boundaries can carefully and wisely be navigated with the seven goals highlighted in the document. I am grateful for the Council’s commitment to adhere to this Strategic Plan as we grow forward towards our bright future.”

“Our 2022-2024 Strategic Plan highlights many long-term goals with a fresh set of objectives to achieve our 25-year mission,” said Celina City Manager Jason Laumer. “I can confidently say that because of the wonderful people who live and serve here, we have accomplished nearly every goal and outpaced expectations set in our 2018-2020 Strategic Plan. Over the coming years, people can expect to see continued growth, but that growth will never be extended to a point that compromises the beauty, safety, or values that make Celina the most attractive place to call home.”

The mission for Celina as laid out in the new Strategic Plan states: “Our mission is to preserve our agricultural heritage and flourish as a close-knit, ever-growing Celina family during the explosive and planned growth of our City. We will provide a unique and extraordinary quality of life complemented by a significant array of high-tech and desirable businesses, agritourism assets, unique destinations, and connections.”

According to the 2022-2024 Strategic Plan, the mission will be accomplished by adhering to the following seven goals:

1. Be the Life Connected. City
2. Be the Unique City
3. Be the City of the Future, Connected to its Past
4. Be the City Built on Public Safety
5. Be the City of Servant Leaders
6. Be the City of Innovative Infrastructure
7. Be the City of Small Business

City of Celina Presents Lifesaving Awards to Two Firefighters Instrumental in Saving the Life of a Drowning Child While Off-Duty

Celina Fire Chief Mark Metdker presented Lifesaving Awards at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 14, to Mike Rockne (Celina) and Captain Daniel Boyd (Denton) for providing life-saving first aid to a four-year-old boy who was underwater and unconscious. Rockne and Boyd, who were both off-duty at the time, quickly jumped into action and used resuscitative actions to save the life of the young boy at a neighborhood pool. Members of the family were on hand for the award presentation and watched joyfully as the young boy presented the actual awards to Rockne and Boyd.

“I am so proud to celebrate these brave and heroic first responders who were attentive to a nearby crisis and leapt into action to save a life,” said Celina Mayor Sean Terry. “Our firefighters are such a special group of civil servants, and their immediate response of service and skill resulted in a happy ending to a horrific situation.” After the firefighters received their awards, Chief Metdker and members of the Celina Fire Department presented the young boy with a personalized Celina Fire Department protective gear similar to what is used when responding to emergency calls.

“Our firefighters heroically and humbly save countless lives as part of their normal service. The responsiveness of Boyd and Rockne while off-duty showed that these men not only work in a career of serving our community, but truly function out of a calling to help people,” said Metdker.
