This article is horrific and yet I recommend you all read.
1) Talk with your kids. If you think they are too young to have a conversation about s*xual predators, they are too young to have a phone.
2) Make sure you and your kids understand the privacy settings of every app on their phone. Do not allow them to have public profiles.
3) Social media apps require users to be 13 years or older. Don’t let your 11 year-old have Instagram or Snapchat.

11 year-old boy drives 200 miles to meet man he met on SnapChat - CyberSense Live You may have seen the recent news story about the South Carolina boy who took his brother’s car and drove 200 miles to meet a stranger he met on SnapChat. After a fun morning of CyberSense shows at Coches Creek Middle School, I was invited to visit with sixth grade students who are taking a presentation literacy elective. As part of their course, they all present a filmed TED talk with the possibility of being selected to present at their district's TEDX series. It was wonderful to chat with them and answer their questions. It sounds like a wonderful program and something other middle schools should consider.
